Hearing *Stellastarr
Bucks, Brawls, Monsters, Dukies and K-Fed
Yeah, I get paid to look this stuff up* ...
· Fox Sports says the Bucks -- with Redd and Ford leading the way -- have emerged as the NBA's surprise team (ahead of the NOOCH!) with wins at Philly and NJ. Oh, how I wish Bogut's blog was still in business.
· Fanblogs picks up a Diamondback report on the best campus brawl of the week: 12 Maryland football players vs. seven or eight bouncers at a College Park bar late Halloween night. Apparently, bottles were used as weapons and Coach Friedgen arrived at the scene to clean up the mess (This sounds just like The Program!). The whole thing allegedly broke out because one of the players hit a girl at the bar. Yeah, not "hit on" but "hit."
· In other DC-area news, Off Wing makes a strong case that Alex Ovechkin was robbed of the Rookie of the Month honor because the NHL unfairly favors Sidney Crosby. I haven't watched a lick of hockey, but reading this makes me want to remedy that situation. Off Wing says, "[Ovechkin]'s got moves around the net I've never seen before," and someone in his comments section calls him "a monster."
· The season isn't quite here yet, but let the Duke hating begin. SI says freshman PG Greg Paulus is the next link in the chain of hated Dukies Redick, Wojo, Collins, Hurley, Laettner and Ferry. Interesting, I wonder if Paulus is into poetry?
· SBL colleague Lush Factor breaks down the Kevin Federline rap song that leaked out on stereogum (great mp3 blog, by the way) earlier today. I'm at a loss for words, so ... take it away, K-Fed:
"Back then, they called me K-Fed, but you can call me Daddy instead ... My prediction is that y'all gonna hate on the style we create, straight 2008."
Ahhh, Spederline, you really shouldn't have.
* I had been calling these things 'Caught on the Web', but High Above Courtside suggests I call them 'I Get Paid to Look This Stuff Up.' So there you go.
