Hearing Jose Gonzalez
Skip, Woody and Yours Truly*
The second Cold Pizza appearance has come and gone (it replays at 10:53 AM ET this morning), and I did my damnedest to do the blogosphere right. I actually followed "x-to-the-z" Xzibit on the program, and here are some of the sites I mentioned while answering Jay Harris's pointed questions about T.O., cheerleaders, whatnot:
· Deadspin
· Student of the Game
· Pigskin Bloggers
· Out of the Brew
· Sports Bloggers Live
· Bad Jocks
· Dave's Football Blog
· The Smoking Gun
· Baseball Musings
· ESPN Page 2
I haven't seen the segment yet, so I'll probably post more later ... but two items of interest:
· Harris told me off-air that he's never actually seen or read a sports blog.
· Deadspin made it on-air well before I did.
Jay thinks I'm a joke!
Update: High Above Courtside -- "Offset all the porno and ultimate fighting on with some Cold Pizza. It's good for all of us."
Update: Just watched it. Can't believe I called Artest "my blogger in arms." That may or may not have been worse than my "thank you, that was considerate" line following Artest's freestyle on Monday's SBL. Also, I was not only preceded on the program by Xzibit but followed by Carrot Top. I love TV (especially ESPN2).
B'anyway, The Slice (which is what my boss Bob Vomit now calls Cold Pizza) showed screen grabs of Student of the Game, Deadspin, Dave's Football Blog and Baseball Musings; which is nice. Those guys deserve the spotlight.
Update: Just got this email from a college friend -- "so i'm in my room in college approximately 6 years ago and i'm doing the herbal healing thing. low and behold, as i'm flipping through thechannels, i see one of my own. brother mottram on the local tv talking about jmu girls field hockey. amusing - although i was certain i was hallucinating.
6 years later in a similar, just as eerie experience, i'm nursing a hangover in my bed on the 12th day of november in 2005 and who pops on espn2? - mr. mottram - blogger extraordinaire. congratulations!!! - ferris, you're my hero."
Update: Magic Smoke posts an animated gif.
My moment of zen!
Update: Baseball Musing posts video of the appearance.

I just happen to be watching Cold Pizza that morning and heard "blog" in the background. Great job on it. Very poised and knowledgable. I just started a blog but who knows maybe next time mine will be interesting enough to get a mention! Great job.

Jaime, keep it going with Cold Pizza.

I think I had a call from the local TV station when I won the ALl Star contest, but that would make my blog a publid disclosure of my drug use and sex drive.
I was once on "Spenser: For Hire" as a kid. My sister and I were walking through Boston, and we walked onto the street where they were filming a scene. The director told us to just stand there and look down. I was 7 or so.
The scene was where that big black guy ("Hawk") drives around, looking out his car window- presumably for some shady honky to beat down. Whoever played the fictional Boston detective Spenser (I think it was Robert Urich) was nowhere to be seen.
I have no idea where it ran, and I couldn't see me anywhere... and I watched as long as my attentionspan reminded me to. I do list it on my resume, though. I was also on TV when Dennis Rodman fell into the crowd at a Celtics game, but that prolly merits a separate blog entry.
