Hearing The Go! Team
Turkey Bowl II
In what is quickly becoming an Arlington, VA tradition, my friends, family and I participated in Turkey Bowl II the day after Thanksgiving. We all get together at a field, put out some cones, pick teams and proceed to play the most unorganized brand of seven-on-seven football imaginable for a couple hours. Then we get drunk and full at a local establishment (Whitlow's this year, Vienna Inn last year).
The winner? My team, despite me dropping a TD pass Jackie Smith-style.
MVP? My dad, for not beating me after I (unintentionally!) laid him out on the gravel.
Best cheerleader? My mom, for bringing her high school megaphone to the game.
All in all, it was a blast and I'm still sore. Use the comments section to post your own Turkey Bowl tales if you've got 'em.
Update: My brother Chris is very upset about this, so I feel compelled to post it. My team won the first game, 8-4 (one point = one TD). His team won the second, mini game 3-1. Keep in mind that Chris was wearing a leather Redskins helmet (with ear flaps!) for both contests.

A holiday tradition of family fall football game is fun and heartwarming. For real. The OT period in DC was more painful for the Skins than any hit in Arlington, VA on this day. I hope Whitlow's was flowing double Patron' shots w/Rolling Rock chasers to soothe the skinned knees and frazzled melons from the Bolt stunner in the house that Cooke built. My Bolts live to play another day. The Skins are buried. Besides the loss in which it seemed on TV we were outplayed we took over when it counted. And the FG miss helped, and our most awesome play of the day besides the LT scamper and Gates catch, the coin toss victory! Not dissing, just the facts. Happy Holiday's to the panel at AOL and the bloggers and the Suuuuuuuppppppppeeeerrrrrrrr Chhhhhhaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggg

good luck in your new tradition, my friends and I played into our thirties until the injuries (broken collarbone on a NY state trooper!) convinced us to hang 'em up...but every tday we still talk about the glory days....nearing our fifties now

Is that barbed wire encircling your local high school?
Also, can you add a picture of Otis alone?
