Painting the Playoff Picture (and I Ain't No Picasso*)

The season is three-quarters over and half the league still stands a chance of playing in one of the most beautiful sights this blogger's eyes have ever seen: the NFL Playoffs. Since my brother already posted his picks, and we like to argue, I'll throw my own out there and open up the comments section for master debating to ensue. As always, keep in mind that I'm a Skins fan.

Shaun Alexander, Edgerrin James My (and everyone's) #1 seeds

AFC
1. Colts 16-0 (currently 12-0) -- Remaining games: @ Jax, SD, @ Seattle, AZ

2. Broncos 12-4 (9-3) -- Remaining: Balt, @ Buffalo, Oakland, @ SD

3. Bengals 12-4 (9-3) -- Remaining: Cle., @ Detroit, Buffalo, @ KC

4. Patriots 11-5 (7-5) -- Remaining: @ Buffalo, TB, @ NYJ, Miami

5. Jaguars 12-4 (9-3) -- Remaining: Indy, SF, @ Houston, Tenn.

6. Chiefs 11-5 (8-4) -- Remaining: @ Dallas, @ NYG, SD, Cincy

Missing out: Chargers 10-6 (8-4) and Steelers 10-6 (7-5)

NFC
1. Seahawks 13-3 (10-2) -- Remaining: SF, @ Tenn., Indy, @ GB

2. Panthers 12-4 (9-3) -- Remaining: TB, @ NO, Dallas, @ Atlanta

3. Bears 11-5 (9-3) -- Remaining: @ Pitt., Atlanta, @ GB, @ Minn.

4. Giants 11-5 (8-4) -- Remaining: @ Philly, KC, @ DC, @ Oakland

5. Vikings 11-5 (7-5) -- Remaining: St. Louis, Pittsburgh, @ Balt., Chicago

6. Redskins 10-6 (6-6) -- Remaining: @ AZ, Dallas, NYG, @ Philly

Missing out: Falcons 10-6 (7-5), Bucs 9-7 (8-4) and Cowboys 8-8 (7-5)

So there you have it. Note that last year the NFC only had three 10-win teams and could easily have seven this year. Tough luck for Atlanta (or someone). It should also be noted that Sportz Assassin called Minnesota's turnaround way back when they were 2-5.

Tomorrow I'll be back with less of my own opinion and more of those expressed by the good folks in the Pigskin Bloggers network.

* The title of this entry includes an extremely sly reference to the excellent indie music blog, You Ain't No Picasso.

    A couple of things...

AFC:  I like the Steelers to win that final playoff spot.  Why?  Well, they close the season with the Browns and Lions, two wins I believe.  The Chiefs play in Dallas and New York before hosting San Diego and Cincy.  They may not win any of those games.  The Chargers have the Colts, Chiefs and Broncos left.  Tough.  So I think Pittsburgh may sneak in.

Also, isn't it interesting that the Colts' first playoff game may be against the Patriots??

NFC:  Thanks for the shout out on the Vikings.  I said that schedule would dictate their surge...and it has been proven true.  Two of their final games are against the Rams and Ravens, and Pitt and Chicago they get in the Dome.  Quite compelling!!  For the first time in a loooooooong time, a Cowboys-Redskins game will really have some meaning to it.  All those NFC South teams have beats of remaining skeds.

And our Skins are in the thick of it!!!
