Unloading the Inbox With Authority
Items that have been percolating in my email inbox all day long...
-- Not to exaggerate or anything, but this is the best video I've ever seen. It's an overly emotional and endearingly dorky wrestling fan who someone made the mistake of handing a microphone to. I really hope it's an act. Either way, watching it is extremely uncomfortable, you'll laugh out loud and I implore you to pass it on.
-- Fox Sports puts together the most decent sports fan holiday gift guide I've seen this year. My favorite item is the Bushwackers t-shirt. (Thanks to Schrages for the link. Start a damn blog already, Schrages! I know you've got one incubating somewhere.)
-- Four male Bulgarian soccer players were suspended for having gay sex in the locker room. One of the players was also "found guilty of consorting with a goat at the age of 15." (Thanks to Brian for the link.)
-- The Sixth Tool is an interesting baseball blog. It's allegedly penned by a baseball scout in the southeast -- not to be confused with Jerome From Southeast DC -- who's using fictitious names for everything, but it seems legit and is pretty worthwhile for the hardcore hardball fan. (Thanks to Deadspin for the link.)
-- 19 Eagles players showed up to T.O.'s birthday party. None of whom were superstar QBs with sports hernias, but still.
-- Scoop Jackson writes an entire column about R. Kelly's rendition of the 'Star Spangled Banner.' I saw it live prior to the Taylor-Hopkins II fight in a room full of (white) guys who all thought it sucked. Scoop seems to disagree with that assessment and also uses various n-words. Either way, it still wasn't as bad as Kelly's completely insane 'Out of the Closet' performance at this summer's VMAs.
-- Happy birthday to Alex the Blog Phenom. He's the oldest 13 year-old since Michelle Wie, or maybe Freddy Adu.
-- Speaking of, Ghana is recruiting Adu for the World Cup.
-- Backstretch Motorsports has launched. While I won't pretend to be much of a NASCAR fan, I will say that I'm a big fan of the threesome of AOL sports bloggers who have joined forces to edit this site. Check it out.
-- Quick Slants is blogging to win Fox's sportswriter contest. He's got it in him.
-- The 2005 Web Log Awards contain 14 sports blogs not named 'Mr. Irrevelevant' or 'Pigskin Bloggers.' I'm not sure how this happened. (Thanks to Jonas for the link.)
-- Sportz Assassin shares his best blog entries of 2005. The Mike Tyson's Punch Out! write-up is still one of my all-time faves.
-- This highlight reel of recently deceased soccer legend George Best's, um, best is absurd an nicely soundtracked by Duran Duran's 'Ordinary World.' (Thanks to my buddy Bull for the link. It gave me the sports tingles.)

Don't feel too bad about the Web Log Awards... they don't list anything having to do with NASCAR either. But no 'High Above Courtside'? You know something's wrong there.
Oh, and in regard to Scoop Jackson... the man recently wrote a column insisting all the negatives aimed at Barry Bonds are solely because he's black. I believe that says all needing to be said about Jackson. Yet another example of how the N in ESPN stands for Narcissism, as actively practiced by its "writers."

There is great anti-AOL bias in the blogosphere.
