Hearing the White Stripes
And Then There Were 12
First off, congratulations to my Washington Redskins and Joe Gibbs for winning five straight games, the final spot in the NFC Playoffs and the right to avenge the disputed two-point conversion loss to Tampa Bay from earlier this year. Yes, for just the second time since Gibbs left 13 years ago, it's Playoff Week here in DC and I just don't know what to do with myself. Perhaps I should lobby Clinton Portis to play Johnny White Guy's brother in this Thursday's press conference. (Ed. note: If you haven't watched the Portis video from last week, please do. It features Southeast Jerome in Heaven with five of his homies.)
Last off, here's what Pigskin Bloggers be sayin':
Still the King
Playoff Team Bloggers React!
Bucs Blog is ecstatic with an NFC South title, and likes "our chances against Washington. They're coming off five wins, and the past three have been very emotional. I don't think they can maintain the high level of play they've displayed so far."
Sportz on Skins speaks the truth: "For those who thing the Skins are just a fluke...realize that they (a) beat the #1 seeded Seahawks, (b) beat the #2 seeded Bears, (c) lost by one point to the #3 seeded Buccaneers in Tampa, (d) beat the #4 seeded Giants and (e) beat the team that was fighting to get into the playoffs in the final week, the Cowboys, twice. Also, the Redskins finished with a pretty good 5-3 road record."
Big Blue Notes celebrates an NFC East championship by applauding the Giants' decision to draft and develop Eli Manning in 2004. "It's hard not to like the direction of this team."
Seahawks Fans Anonymous is stoked to finish 13-3 with a No. 1 seed in the NFC. They also take the media to task for not properly appreciating the amazing season that Shaun Alexander just had.
Belly Check realizes that an AFC East title was a foregone conclusion, so she does a great job retelling Flutie's drop kick extra point. He will be missed.
Notebook Cincinnati takes exception to Bengals lineman Willie Anderson calling Pittsburgh "the biggest, baddest and toughest team in football."
Premature Jockularity says, among other things, that the road to Detroit still runs through Indy.
