Hearing Monk and Coltrane
The Orange Bowl Was Bananas
Unfortunately for me, I passed out at midnight just after Penn State's freshman kicker missed a game-winning chip shot at the end of regulation and missed the three-OT classic that was the JoePa-Bowden Bowl. Up until that point the game was more than good enough, though, and it was worth lingering 'til past my bedtime just to see the hit the FSU DB laid on PSU QB Michael Robinson where both of their helmets flew off. Probably the most physical game I've watched since OSU at PSU earlier this season, but, then again, I don't watch much college football.
Dude, those glasses
Anyway, George Coztanza's got Happy Valley roots and pens a very good recap of the Orange Bowl that was:
"The credit goes to Joe Paterno. He was begged to step down. Now he has the last laugh. He will graduate a lot of players and might lose Posluszny to the NFL Draft early. However, he has talent coming back and coming in. PSU might not compete for a national title in 2006. However, the program has returned to national prominence, and it's not unlikely that Joe will win a third championship before all is said and done.
So the game ends with a happy ending. I get revenge on the Seminoles for ruining my College Gameday weekend in September. Penn State finishes its dream season with its first BCS win. I don't like Florida State much, but I have to applaud them. They played a great game. This cliche is used too often, but this was a game both teams deserved to win. It was an absolute thriller."
Follow the link to enjoy the rest. Also, Coztanza's handing the Rose to USC.
