Broncos-Patriots Preview

***Part two in a four-part series of Divisional round NFL Playoff previews. Read the Seahawks-Redskins preview, and feel free to contribute by posting your predictions in the comments.***

The strange thing about the New England-Denver game is that not many folks outside of Colorado are rooting for or picking the Broncos. Everyone wants to see a Colts-Pats AFC Championship, and Peter King even has NE at #2 and Denver at #4 in his Fine Fifteen (even though the Broncos won two more games this year and beat the Pats). As for me, I'm picking Brady, Belichick and the Pats but kind of pulling for Plummer and his hair.

The Belly Check, after mocking Jake the Snake and the inordinate amount of ex-Browns on the Broncos roster, has this to say:

"Denver knows that they're doomed. Indy pounded them last year, and they're a whole lot better now. Denver hasn't answered last year's question yet, and it's already next year... and next year's a lot harder. When you're looking at next week, this week has a way of kicking you in the ass that won't surprise many people who are actually watching for this phenomena...

You can almost see God wanting a Pats/Colts showdown. History demands it. There's a couple of things in the way of that happening. One of them is the Broncos. We shalt Smite them. Pats 23-22"

 Buttchin Tom vs. Pornstache Jake

Sportz on Skins, with the Sunday Ticket and three TVs in his viewing room, gives the objective analysis:

"I hate the "they are champs until they lose" reason to pick New England. Yes, they are the champs until they lose....but that blanket statement doesn't explain why they'll win this game.  To me, New England is still in it's Dynasty Era....but all those injuries to the secondary will be exposed with Ashly Lelie and Rod Smith make big plays and Tatum Bell gets some huge runs.  Tom Brady and Co will do their best to keep pace on the scoreboard....but Denver employs some darn good DBs that can lock down the Pats receivers at times.  That's why I am going with Denver.  New England's 10-game playoff win streak comes to an end....but they will most assuredly be back next season to make another run.  Broncos 30-20"

My pick? Pats 27-21. What's yours?

Bonus: Hear SI's Peter King break down this game on SBL.

I would have to say it will be one of the best games of the year. A Super Bowl Pre-view of hard hits and score board chasing..  Broncos 27 Pats 23.......................     Bill S.  Phoenix Az.

For obvious reasons I can't put my trust behind Plummer. I know he has had a good season, with significantly less turnovers ... but he is still Jake Plummer and this is a big game. Its his nature to turn the ball over.

In this "Who is Disrespected More" Bowl, Rodney Dangerfield should lead to Pats to a close win and the best game of the weekend.

BMBREMAX, the Pats are a different team, but the Broncos are undefeated at home. Pats secondary is weak - 31st against the pass this year....only beating San Francisco.  Even Kitna was picking them apart in the first half last week.  Plummer will go wild and Broncos win in a blowout.
