Hearing the National

Seattle Spanks 21 Years of Suffering

Much to my chagrin, the Redskins finally ran out of the house's money. They end up losing to a superior and more deserving team and it was a far better season than we could have hoped for back in September. So from here on out I'm rooting for Seattle -- even if their MVP running back plays and claps like a girl -- and here's what bloggers be sayin'...

Seahawks Fans Anonymous makes a post you all should read:

"The last time the Seahawks won a playoff game Madonna was cutting her first album. Michael Jackson was still black. Personal computers were newfangled things that nobody knew how to use. There was an internet, but about nine people were using it. The Cold was was still on, Ronald Reagan was President, George W. Bush was still a cokehead, and Iraq was our trusted ally.

My dad died that year.

Twenty one years can be such a long time. Long enough to forget what winning is like. Time enough to forget that winning ever existed. Long enough to wonder if it was all a dream. But it wasn't. It did happen, it is happening again at long last. There is a winner in Seattle. They are going to the NFC Championship, and they did it by going through a real team."

 Gutsy game, Hasselhoff

Sportz on Skins has this to say in defeat:

"Despite losing Shaun Alexander very early in the game to a concussion....the Seahawks were still able to execute their gameplan and beat the surging Skins.  Despite the loss of Alexander and 3 turnovers....Seattle was able to move the ball down the field quite methodically at times.  The real story, however, was the Seattle defense.  They got pressure on Mark Brunell, clamped down on Clinton Portis and did a spectacular job on Santana Moss.

So, the Seahawks have won a playoff game for the first time since 1983...when they beat the Los Angeles Raiders at home in the Kingdome in the AFC playoffs.  They'll host a conference championship game next week for the first time ever...with a shot at the Super Bowl on the line."

 Good season, Brutal

And Bucs Blog is still angry about that Wild Card game:

"The Redskins were officially exposed for the frauds they are. Without gifts like the Bucs gave them, they were ineffective against the Seahawks. Poetic justice."

I had a blast watching this game. As much as I wanted the Redskins to come away w/ the victory, I think the Seahawks deserved it alot more than Washington did. I'm a cheesehead, so you can get why I like Mike Holmgren. In that game, he showed heads up thinking and not panicking when the MVP of the league (Alexander) was injured and taken out of the game.

Matt Hasslebecks leadership spoke to me. It also showed me how much the Seahawks wanted this game. You can definitely see the determination on that touchdown run. Also, when Morris walked into the game for Alexander, he proved himself as a very much worthy running back.

I thought this was an even matchup last weekend before the game. And honesty I still think think it was. This game would've and should've been a real nail-biter, but the "skins" missed alot of chances and it costed them the game
