AFC Championship Pregaming

These teams seem pretty straight up, so you'd think Denver being at home would sway peoples to pick the Broncos. But the fact that the Pats handed them their divisional victory and the Steelers took theirs from Indy puts me in Pittsburgh's posse. Here's what bloggers be sayin':

Don't Score Too Quickly is prepared for a small measure of some football:

"This the they type of championship game from which legends emerge. The sentimental favorite in the AFC is dead, and the "best team" went home because they lacked the moral constitution to advance beyond their first playoff game. Now we have two castoffs that only their fans cans love. Let's face it, both teams are evil incarnate, killing small, furry animals to and from the games. They claim their Gatorade by dropping their male appendage into their paper cups...

A couple of weeks ago, I thought the Steelers were destined to win the Superbowl because Browns fans haven't suffered enough of late. However, Denver advancing to the Superbowl with the former Browns' defensive line will be the football gods' method of punishing Cleveland this year. The Steelers don't have a chance against that type of bad karma... Broncos 34-33"

No Mistake Jake vs. Fathead Ben

Blitzburgh believes in Bill, Ben and the Bus:

"The Broncos are undefeated at home this year (9-0), and the Steelers are 8-2 on the road. Both teams have great safeties, and I think the Broncos have the edge in the secondary with Champ Bailey back there; both teams' linebackers are fast and athletic, and the front 3-4 are great too. Both quarterbacks have had great success this year, the receivers for both sides are solid, and the backfields have a good 1-2 punch with Bettis/Parker and Bell/Anderson (and Dayne maybe too)...

Even with the even matchup, I'm confident that the Steelers will have enough to defeat Denver."

Sportz Assassin breaks it down with a cool hand:

"My pick is the Denver Broncos.  Before the postseason began, I mentioned toa friend that Denver was the one "elite" team that still looked good in December.  The Colts and Bengals packed it in, while the Pats were winning a weak AFC East.  Not to mention that the Jags just seemed weak.  I just like the poise that Denver has displayed all year long [well, except Week 1] and I think it will pay off and vault Denver into the Super Bowl.  Broncos 24-20"

My pick? Steelers 20-17. What's yours?

All things are even with the exception of Champ Bailey.  Steelers have no answer for him.  Also, Pittsburgh will be expected to come off an emotional high for three weeks in a row.  Hard to keep getting up that many times in a row.  Denver wins  21 - 17.

There is no stopping the black and gold now. They have proven so many so wrong and will continue to do so tomorrow. Score Steelers 24 Denver10.

Even Steeler Baby says so. And he/she knows all.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Steelers will win on Sunday.  You can quote all the stats you want, they are 9-0 at home and they have home field advantage, blah, blah,blah....I know it is a cliche, but it has been proven to be true, "on any given Sunday".
Last Sunday we were 9 1/2 point underdogs....hah!  Inspite of all the good tackles, receptions, blocks, etc., a  greater being determines our destiny, that's right, the officials.  My the officials be with us.
