Artest Joins Team Dime (Which Is Not a Gang)
Update: The deal is back on Kings Super Fans joined SBL to break it down: "When I heard the news, I was ecstatic... I was ready for Peja to move on... Like a brand new toy... It's going to be awkward... We'll be a better team for it." Hear it here.
Update: ESPN.com is now reporting that the deal is off. Team Dime (which is not a gang) has lost a valuable member.
What's that? Ron Artest might be traded? What's that? Artest has been traded to Sacramento for Peja Stojakovic? If ESPN.com reports it, it must be true, so expect to be inundated with Artest coverage today, tomorrow and, well, as long as he laces 'em up.
What I find particularly enjoyable about this deal is that Mike Bibby and his crew -- "Team Dime" (which is not a gang) -- now have the NBA's most notorious baller in the mix to play alongside roughnecks like Brad Miller and Bonzi Wells. And Indiana gets a 6'10" white guy who can shoot and is not named Larry Bird. God bless those zany Maloof brothers, the land of Hoosiers and Artest's crazy streak.
Is it a good deal for both teams? Seems like it to me, but I'd pay more attention to what people who actually watch massive amount of fantastic NBA action have to say over the next couple days. Meanwhile, I just hope Artest is welcomed with open arms into Team Dime (which is not a gang).
