Hearing Bright Eyes

The 'Puhlahmahlu' Song

A Pittsburgh-area band named Mr. Devious has recorded a funny rendition of an old Muppets song and changed all the lyrics to be about Troy Polamalu and the STeelers. Their inspiration:

"Back in good ol' Week 14, when the Steelers took on the Chicago Bears, one of the Fox Sports announcers butchered the name of our favorite player: Troy Polamalu. Since this aggression will not stand, we present to you a song devoted to this haneous act."

Hear the 'Puhlahmahlu' song (MySpace) and watch the slideshow (YouTube).

Many thanks to Blitzburgh's Super Bowl preview post for making me aware of the tune. Here's an excerpt:

"Super Bowl XL will be all about who stops the run, who stops the pass, who steps up on defense, which quarterback gets knocked on his back more, which quarterback leads his team better—maybe even which kicker comes up with the big kick at the end of the game to ice it—and most importantly, who wants it more? Will the fifth-best rusher in NFL history, Jerome Bettis, win his only Super Bowl appearance in his 13 professional seasons—in his hometown? Will this in fact be a game for the ages? All the answers lie in the Super Bowl itself—Sunday, February 5, 2006 at 6:30 PM ET."
