Trent Dilfer Has Overly High Self-Esteem

Driving in to work today listening to ESPN's Mike & Mike show I heard this quote from former Seattle QB Trent Dilfer regarding Seahawks LT Walter Jones:

"He's not only the best lineman in the game, he's by far the best. It's not like the difference between Walter and the next-best lineman is like Peyton Manning to Carson Palmer; it's like Peyton Manning to Kyle Boller."

If I'm Boller in Detroit at Super Bowl party or whatnot, I'm asking Dilfer to step outside Rocky VI-style. Reason being that Dilfer is no better than Boller and doesn't need to be saying all that. Sure, he won a Super Bowl with arguably the greatest defense ever on his side, but both guys were (or are) first-round busts. For comparison's sake, here are Boller and Dilfer's stats side-by side:

Boller: 69.2 rating, 55.6%, 31 TD and 32 INT
Dilfer: 71.3 rating, 55.7%, 106 TD and 117 INT

So next time Dilfer's talking to a reporter and wants to bad-mouth a QB, maybe he should look in the mirror instead of picking on a third-year guy from good stock who may yet make something of himself in this league.
