8 Out of 10 Bloggers Agree: Pittsburgh Is the Pick
For a team only favored by 4 in Super Bowl XL, the Steelers sure are the people's champ. Or maybe it's just that I don't know anything about gambling, which is definitely the case. Regardless, eight out of 10 Pigskin Bloggers agree: Pittsburgh is gonna get their one for the thumb and a nation of yinzers are gonna party like it's 1979. As for me, I'm picking the Black & Gold but rooting for Seattle -- they seem more like my kind of people.
As for you, post your pick and come to Sports Bloggers Live right after the game for the SBXL post-game show sponsored by Bud Light(!) and featuring bloggers from Dave's Football Blog (a Steelers fan), Seahawks Fans Notorious, AdJab and TV Squad.
Now, here's what the aforementioned bloggers be sayin'...
Don't Score Too Quickly picks Pittsburgh 45-17:
"Ben Roethlisberger and Hines Ward will rule the day, hooking up all damn day as the Seahawks ask themselves just what the hell did they sign up for. When Ward needs a breather from running through the Seahawk's tattered secondary, Antwaan Randle EL will pick up the slack Jerome Bettis will get a couple of end zone dives so the announcers can tell us even more stories about Bettis being from Detroit. Willie Parker will rush enough to keep the Seahawks honest, and the game will be decided by half time."
Premature Jockularity picks Pittsburgh 26-15:
"An upstart Super Bowl team should've survived one life-or-death experience in the playoffs. Insurgent teams like the '01 Patriots (Tuck rule) and '99 Rams (held to 11 points by Tampa Bay in the NFL title game) usually have the one life-or-death experience on their way to the Super Bowl (the '00 Ravens didn't, but did they beat any memorable teams to get there?). It's kind of like my Final Four rule: a team that got there via four blowouts doesn't know how to deal with the inevitable close game, also known as the '91 UNLV rule."
Blitzburgh picks Pittsburgh 30-27:
"This game is going to be close from start to finish. I don't think it will be decided until the last half of the fourth quarter. Jeff Reed will put a pigskin through the uprights, and the Blitzburgh defense will have to hold on for the win."
Minnesota Sports picks Pittsburgh 24-21:
"Again people, let me remind y'all that I don't know much at all about these teams, so my pick barely has an ounce of credibility."
Detroit Sports Blog picks Pittsburgh 21-0:
"Steelers are going to dominate. Traditionally in SuperBowls the refs swallow the whistles, so the more aggressive team has an edge. And the Steelers play on the edge, they pound you till you scream for mercy"
Kings of NY Football picks Pittsburgh 24-21:
"This Super Bowl will be decided by turnovers."
Coztanza's Commentary picks Pittsburgh 24-14:
"There are really two factors that will decide this game. First is the crowd. This is going to be a virtual home game for the Steelers. Most fans in Detroit are pulling for the Steelers because they want hometown son Jerome Bettis to get the ring that has eluded him. Detroit is also a short trip from Pittsburgh, meaning a lot of members of Steeler Nation have made the trek to support their team...The second factor will be motivation. The Seahawks seem just happy to be in Detroit They're essentially playing with house money."
High Above Courtside picks Pittsburgh 23-20:
"It's difficult not to [like Pittsburgh]. Is there anyone out there as Old School as Pittsburgh? I'd root for the Taliban if Bill Cowher and that mammoth, jutting chin of his were coaching them. Nothing says "football" more than a 250 pound running back up the middle, and have the Steelers ever had a bad defense? They even have an Angry Samoan, who hits like an iced bong- hard, and with the tendency to leave one relatively lightheaded afterwards. I'd try to spell his name, but I don't want him angry with me."
Bolts Blog takes Seattle 27-24:
"Matt Hasselbeck will be Seattle's Zack, cocky and sure of himself. Jerome Bettis will be Mr. Belding, stepping on all in his power position of principle. Troy Palamalu will be Elizabeth Berkley, aka the Showgirl."
East Bay Grease takes Seattle:
"This could be one of the best Super Bowls in years."

That was the worst officiating I've ever seen in a Super Bowl! It's sad that the Seahawks were on the bad end of all that. There was no money to be had if the Seahawks won that game. That's why they never had a fair chance to begin with. If this is the way the Steelers want to remember their big bad 5th Super Bowl, have at it. The bottom line is, Seattle had to play against the Steelers AND the refs! NO team can overcome that! Sure, Seattle had a few missed opportunites, but look at the stats of that game. Seattle dominated it! But every time Seattle scored or came VERY close to scoring there was a bogus flag to bring it back. If that game was called fair, it would've been emarassing for the Steelers!

The steelers one because they bought out the refs, if they had played us in a real fair game we would have won. But instead everytime we made a good play it was followed by a flag. The steelers should be ashamed not proud.

Seahawks was robbed by the ref's
What a sad game seen a better team gettting robbed by wrong calls of the ref's? That was trully a joke.
Pittsburgh other than a few good play's has nothing to show.
