Ty Hildenbrandt is the big winner of FOX's Next Great Sportwriter contest, and I couldn't be happier for him. Ty, of Quick Slants fame, has been linked to from this site many times and regularly contributes to SBL, so it's great news to hear that he muddled through the five-week, 16-fan competition and came out clean on the other side with a new title: "contributing writer to FOXSports.com."

Many congratulations to Ty for the well-deserved honor and to FOX for running such a great contest. I mean, I'm sure they got some coin out of it (title sponsor was Mickey D's), but this isn't their first example of quality blog/fan-friendly programming... see: Yoco Hoops' regular contributions here, see also: Football Outsiders here and here.
