Making the Olympics Fun for Sports Fans

As a sports fan who generally likes his baseball, football and hoops with the occasional side of golf or tennis, I don't care too much for the Winter Olympics and I imagine you don't either. Be that as it may, Sports Bloggers Live's Olympics preview is as good a way as any to get interested in and acquainted with the Turin/Torino games. What you'll hear is a few regular Joes (plus a Jane) talking to...

 Figure skater Johnny Weir
 Snowboarder Shaun White
 Figure skater Sasha Cohen
 Freestyle ski aerialist Jeret Peterson
 Speed skater Casey FitzRandolph
 Snowboarder Hannah Teter

All of these Olympians are good interviews, but Weir, White and Teter are truly great. Weir discussing his Russian nemesis's fashion mullet is priceless. White recounting the time he met fellow redhead Lindsey Lohan on TRL is hilarious. And 18 year-old Teter talking to us from her new Escalade is kind of nauseating. Regardless, check out the full preview show and consider yourself prepared for two weeks of skiing, skating, curling, boarding and Bob Costas.

Johnny Weir, Shaun White and Sasha Cohen Weir, White and Cohen Rock Our Mic

Speaking of these Olympics, it seems Weir has surpassed Bode Miller and Michelle Kwan this week in terms of media interest. Maybe it's because he showed up for practice in Torino wearing a CCCP jacket. Or perhaps it's because he described himself as being "very princessy" upon arrival at the Olympic Village. My brother actually lays out exactly how feminine Weir really is but fails to mention that he collected Care Bears as a wee boy. My brother that is, not Weir. Yes, my brother loved Care Bears, which probably explains why his blog is so angry all the time.

I bet he'll try to trade in his Gold Medal for a nice fresh Pearl necklace.
