This Is Why the Winter Olympics Suck

Look at the ad on the AOL Sports article above. Now look at the headline. Oooh, the suspense... the drama... the passion of tape-delayed sports! This is why the Olympics are completely uninteresting. You simply can't watch the big events and moments "happen" without knowing the outcomes first. No wonder more people are watching American Idol, Grey's Anatomy, Debbie Housewives and even Dancing With the Stars.

If Bode straddles a gate, you find out mid-day. If Cohen falls, it's a top headline on every site before the sun goes down. And if Chad freaking Hedrick wins a silver medal that looks exactly like a CD you can't even avoid that either. Sunday's closing ceremonies can't come soon enough. There may not be any more Olympic hotties to look at after then, but at least the The Office will be back on-air every Thursday. Live or not, at least that's entertainment.

And, yes, I realize that this post could have been made three weeks ago when the Games started, but that screenshot is too priceless not to post.

I just hate the Olympics because it's on NBC, don't know why they can't have the Olympics on ABC or CBS, where neither of those channels have anything I want to watch. Yah! I miss out on two weeks of The Office for a bunch of athletes I've never heard of and will probably never hear of again after the games are over? Spent the first Sunday of the games watching a much more important sporting event: The Pro Bowl. And the best sporting event this month was clearly the Steeler's Super Bowl win. The Olympics: the best way to not have to pay athletes and make the people who run the games and the companies sponsoring the games billionares.

Jamie, I have been complaining about these games for the last few weeks.  It isn't JUST that we don't care....but neither do our athletes.

A shame, since the USA has done well in the medal standings....but the hype has killed everything good about these games.

It was Michelle Kwan [didn't even skate], and Bode Miller [all talk, no walk], then Johnny Weir-d [missed the bus in more ways than one], then the Women's hockey team [another blown Olympics], then the men's team [why did we even bother sending our NHLers??] and finally The Feud.  Seing two speedskaters bickering as the biggest thing to happen this Olympiad is quite disturbing.  Especially when in about 2 weeks no one will remember who ANY of these people are.

Even if I know who wins or loses, I really enjoy the effort and enthusiasm of most of the competitors at the olympics.  I am a true sports fan and can appreciate a good performance no matter who did it or where they are from.

Anyone who has not enjoyed the olympics should go back and examine their own successes in life.  Anyone's hard work and effort in any endeavor makes the world a better place and helps blot out all the negativity that too many people display, all to often.

Too many USA citizens need to visit a location where they can come to appreciate what blessing we enjoy here, that others sometimes cannot even dream possible.  We need to concentrate on building up one another, rather than being so negative.

Appreciate the efforts of the Italian people to host the winter games.
