Hearing John Rocker on SBL

Really, Really Light Summer Reading

T.O. is writing a book about his time in Philly which is due out in July and tells the "real story" about how he destroyed the Eagles from within and alienated anyone not named Rosenhaus or Irvin who ever loved him. You probably won't need to remember the release date though because it will be given the ESPN treatment every day for a week or until ombudsman George Solomon jumps off the nearest tall building.

That said, the news about T.O.'s book recalls a recent conversation on Sports Bloggers Live with very special guest John Rocker. See, Rocker is coming out with a book of his own "that will cover topics such as politics, current events, the media and sports." Here's what he said when we asked him about it:

"I'm in NY right now, I have a meeting with a couple of literary agents tomorrow. You know, concerning the book, obviously. It'll be out June, July. I've got about two chapters written right now... It'll probably be 12 to 14 chapters. Something like that. I'm about one-fifth of the way there I guess."

So there you go. Rocker has two chapters of his masterwork in the can and is shopping it around. Hear the clip. We start asking Rocker about the book at the 9:20 mark, and Deadspin calls in to make fun of him a few minutes later.

This shirt is actually for sale on JohnRocker.net: "Buy the shirt John wears!"

Related: While we're on the subject of sports books, we gave away two copies of the Diecast Dude's Restrictor Plate This! on last night's SBL and are giving away two autographed copies of Mike Schmidt's new one, Clearing the Bases on Thursday's show. Email me at dcsportsguy@aol.com with 'Schmidt' in the subject line to enter into the random drawing, and thanks for listening to our show and visiting this site.
