Phillies Send Cockfighting DVD to Fans
WPVI-TV reports that a Phillies season ticket holder received a promotional DVD in the mail that was intended to get fans to overlook that whole replacing Billy Wagner with Tom Gordon thing and keep forking over cash to pay Mike Lieberthal's $7.5 million salary. But when he popped the disc into the player, what he got was not an awesome display of Ryan Howard's appetite, Jimmy Rollins' jewelry or even Pat Burrell's drinking ability but "an extended video of cock-fighting in Spanish."
The team mailed 4,000 of these cock-fighting videos to fans and claims they've only received two complaints so far. Of course, that could just be because everyone else either threw them away or was really, really into it, the latter being another feather in the cap of despicable Philly fans.
From the 700 Level's reaction when emailed about this? "I know the Phils have been working to regenerate fan interest, but perhaps they should try the English-language version of the cockfighting video? I mean, that's what I'd do..."

this is probably the most interest fans have had in the phillies since the days of kruk and daulten (sp?). nothing gets you ready for the season like some good old cockfighting!
