Hearing Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

Clemens Forced to Wear Wrinkled Clothes During WBC

In the harmlessly absurd yet still interesting non-story of the day, Rocket had this to say about Japanese and South Korean fans...

"Remembering back to a Japan-South Korea game in Anaheim, Calif., Clemens said he took clothes to a dry cleaners and was told he wouldn't get them back for nearly a week.

"They said, 'You've got no chance,' they told me. I said, 'I'm going to get it tomorrow, right?' And then she goes, `No chance, we're going to the game.' So we couldn't get dry cleaning done out there, but I guess the neatest thing about them was there were about 50,000 of them at Anaheim Stadium, Korea and Japan.

Kind of an insensitive remark and poor use of the word them, but I've been told that hearing the quote in a larger context makes it sound even less offensive. I'm not sure it's offensive at all, actually. He's retelling an actual story about trying to get dry cleaning done and he couldn't because the store's employees were literally attending the Japan-South Korea game.

Anyway, ESPN.com's handling of the non-story is interesting as apparently it was originally included as a sidebar to the 'Clemens gets NL ring' story and labeled as "a questionable comment." However, it's now included in the bottom of the story itself and isn't called into question at all. The Big Lead is all over it.

AP put this back in context because they botched the quote. They owe Clemens some sort of apology, like he owes the Yankees for letting his son lose the Hummer the Bombers gave to him.... D-Bag! www.lushfactor.com

When he was leaving the dry cleaner, a crowd of Asians surrounded him and made him apologize for Hiroshima... right on Main Street, USA.
