NBA Mock Draft 1.0
If you know me, you know I loves me some mock drafts. With that said, the fantastic Real GM has posted their first 2006 NBA Mock Draft (top 10 picks edition). Head over there for comprehensive and ongoing coverage, but these are their picks in-brief ...
1. Trailblazers -- Tyrus Thomas (SF/PF, LSU, Freshman, 19 years old, 6'9”, 215): "A dominant player on defense and every NBA team loves guys that have tremendous upside, especially power forwards."
2. Bobcats -- LaMarcus Aldridge (PF/C, Texas, Sophomore, 6'10”, 245 pounds): "He is the type of 4/5 teams love to build around."
3. Bulls (via NY Knicks) -- Andrea Bargnani (SF/PF, Benetton Treviso, 20 years old, 7'0”, 225 pounds): "Even though he may lack the strength to battle power forwards in the post, he can flat out destroy them on offense."
4. Hawks -- Adam Morrison (SF, Gonzaga, Junior, 6'8”, 215 pounds) -- "Probably won’t make any All-Star teams, but can become a second or third option on a championship team."

5. Raptors -- Brandon Roy (SG, Washington, 6'6”, 210, Senior) -- "One of the first, if not the first, guard off the board."
6. Warriors -- Rudy Gay (SF, Connecticut, Junior, 6'9”, 220 pounds) -- "Once teams see him in workouts, he will most likely jump back into the Top 5 mix."
7. Celtics -- Tiago Splitter (PF/C, Tau Vitoria/Ceramica, 21 years old, 7'0”. 240): "One of the more proven big men in this year’s draft because he’s won in both international tournaments as well as leagues such as the ACB and Euroleague."
8. Timberwolves -- Rajon Rondo (PG, Kentucky, Sophomore, 6'1”, 175 pounds) -- " If he can correct [his jumper], he can become a very deadly point guard for many, many years."
9. Magic -- Rodney Carney (SG/SF, Memphis, Senior, 6'7”, 205): "The tools to become an All-Star, but he needs to show teams that he won't stay behind the line."
10. Rockets -- Mardy Collins (SG/SF, Temple, Senior, 6’6”, 220): "The type of guard who has the versatility Lottery teams like."
I like that RealGM has Roy at 5 and think he'll be the steal of the draft, at least of the lottery. He reminds me of Dwyane Wade when he came out of Marquette in '03. He's not quite the player that Wade was, and won't become the superstar that Wade is, but he's similarly undervalued and looks like a sure-shot All-Star in a class full of question marks at this point.
Elsewhere on the draft tip, NBADraft.net has Josh McRoberts coming out and going at no. 8, slides Rondo down to 16 (one pick before J.J. Redick) and doesn't have Splitter on the list (this year). And Chad Ford still has Joakim Noah coming out and going no. 1 (thanks to True Hoop for the tip).

All of those players listed can have their names reversed... except the Boy Named Andrea. It's kind of funny when Rudy Gay isn't the gayest name in a particular draft.

i've had the privelege to watch Brandon the last four years here in Seattle and he can be so smoothe. I agree that he's not getting the hype as some of the other top players, but whoever lands him will be very happy.
