NBA Stars & Bathroom Humor
SI profiles LeBron in this week's cover story, focusing on the second part of the "three acts" which will span the King's basketball career. The story offers excellent insight on LeBron the Leader and LeBron the Brand, but my favorite part is this bit about his sense of humor (and lack of mercy) ...
"The great hope of a fragile city's athletic fortunes sits on a chair in the basement of the Q, allowing his picture to be taken. Team LeBron has allotted photographer Michael LeBrecht only a few minutes to take a portrait, even though he's known James for six years. Working quickly around James, LeBrecht practically straddles LeBron's knee, snapping away, when he suddenly pulls back and makes a face. "That's not your shoes, is it?" LeBrecht asks. James starts to giggle, then cocks one leg, breaks wind again and giggles some more. The photographer shakes his head, pulls his shirt over his nose and keeps shooting through the olfactory haze."
"Snaps! He said "olfactory!"
That's just cruel. Similarly, Gilbert Arenas is a superstar with a sense of humor and entitlement, and this issue of SI also includes a "First Person" profile on the man known as Zero. Here's a snippet ...
"One of my favorites [practical jokes] was sneaking up on my teammate Awvee Storey.* He has a bad attitude, and I just have to try and get him to smile. One day he was on the toilet reading the paper, and I snuck in with a water hose, turned it on him and sprayed him for, like, three minutes. He had all his clothes on, and he got soaked. It was hilarious. But for some reason he still wasn't laughing."
"Awvee's a serious dude!"
Cruel but funny. If sense of humor plays any kind of role in these guy's first round playoff matchup, I'm going with Wizards in 6.
* Awvee Story, the butt of Gil's practical joke, has a great name but 10 day-contract game.

Why don't people talke about the good stuff that professionals do like Karl Malone and his work in Mississippi. The man is footing the bill for his company to clear private property lots from the hurricane. Let's blog about stuff like that instead of the crazy and rediculous behavior of people who don't care about their footprints in the world.
