Is Noah the New Leinart?

Last week's question was this: Is Leinart the new Rodgers? Turned out the answer was closer to "yes" than a lot of us thought. Like Aaron before him, Matt slid down the draft board from his predicted position of No. 3 overall to the Cardinals at 10. In light of the fact that Leinart probably would've gone No. 1 if he'd come out last year, his decision to return for one more season cost him roughly $40 million.

Many fans and media types look at that and seriously question his decision to come back to USC to take a ballroom dancing class. What they may not consider is that Leinart also got to enjoy one more year that money can't buy, being the man in L.A., hanging with celebs, winning a classic at Notre Dame and partying with hotties after the Heisman ceremony ...

You can't really put a dollar figure on that action. Especially for a guy who's dad already had enough dough to afford a $3,800 apartment for him and his buddy. (Ed. note: My three-bedroom college abode cost $360) Plus, he ended up landing with Arizona -- a franchise with a QB-friendly head coach, Edgerrin James, awesome receivers and no expectations -- where he can continue to play out West.

Which brings to this week's question: Is Noah the new Leinart? Joakim's current situation is the same one Matt faced last year. Fresh off a NCAA championship and with a good chance of going No. 1 overall, Noah, like Leinart before him, is staying at Florida rather than jumping to the NBA.

Next year's class is looking much stronger than this year's. So much so that NBADraft.net has Noah going sixth in '07. But also like Leinart, Noah doesn't need the money. His dad is a tennis player-turned-reggae star. So why not enjoy all that Gainesville has to offer for another 12 months ...

In the end, both of these guys have probably cost themselves a ton of money. They'll also end up making plenty down the road, so why not live life to the fullest in the meantime? Neither should be criticized for the decisions they've made. They're just kids with extraordinary talent, large amounts of human nature and bright, bright futures.

You only go to college once.........both these guys will make millions.........I always thought Leinart was a genius for staying another year at USC and I will have the same respect for Noah at Fla.  20-21 years old with tons of hot chicks.

When they are 30 they will only have c*&nt's after their money.

Give Leinhart  his due , he's gonna make a lot of money.  So he's going to spend a lot of money. Where did I  hear that before ?  Oh yeah  I remember it  was those  immortal words uttered by the one and only  Patrick Ewing after that  infamous incident at  that  renowned strip club in Atlanta., GA.     Matt's  following in  right footsteps,  but  he'd better be careful !  I saw  a  rerunned episode  of his appearance  on  Ashton Kutcher's  show   Punk'd  where  he was caught   up  in a  really  embarrassing  situation.
