Shaq's Crew Smokes Cuban's
Dallas beat Pheonix in 6 after Miami did the same to Detroit, setting up a suitable finale to the most stirring NBA Playoffs in years. In a postseason that began with LeBron and Kobe captivating us all, the fitting conclusion will pit Dwyane against Dirk and Shaq against DeSagana. And it's that last matchup -- O'Neal vs. Diop, or Dampier or whoever -- that has me picking the Heat, even if Maverick Moneyball says, "You're a fool if you bet against Dallas." Regardless, I'll root for Blog Maverick and Co. all along, if for nothing else than to see Big Brother David Stern have to hand him the championship trophy in front of the world.
"No, Mark, I will not go out partying with you to celebrate our first trip to the Finals but thanks for paying for everything!"
And on the NHL tip, it's a Carolina-Edmonton Stanley Cup starting tomorrow night. Since I picked the Hurricanes over on Off Wing, I'll stick with that... even if I literally can't name any of their players.
Update: SBL blog of the week True Hoop takes Miami in six and posts video of the Mavs arriving in Dallas late last night.

John,
While I agree that Dirk is unstoppable, I feel the same way about Wade. If you look at those two as canceling each other out, than the difference maker will be Shaq. Of course, Payton is gonna have a lot of fun chasing Terry and Harris around all series as well... this is gonna be a fun Finals, very competitive, but I'm going with Miami.

The first time since 1927 that the teams in the Stanley Cup Finals didn't meet during the season.

The biggest question, Who will stop Dirk? Surely Shaq won't be able to go outside with him.. The 4 players may cancel each other, but the 5 player edge goes to the german. Peace, John
