KG for USA Goalkeeper
There are two ways to react to team America's 3-0 opening loss to the Czech Republic in the World Cup: 1) Bitch about it. 2) Do Something. Our friends at The Realests have come to this crossroads and, fortunately for us, have decided to take action. Their approach is to start a Put Garnett in Net campaign. Here's the Realest comparison between current US keeper Kasey Keller and potential keeper Kevin Garnett...
"Kasey Keller
Age: 36
Height: 6-2
Wingspan: Less than Garnett's
Telling Sign: Balding
Pre-Cup Quote: "We've come a long way in 15 years but we have a long way to go.
Kevin Garnett
Age: 30
Height: 6-11
Wingspan: 7 feet
Telling Sign: Blocked almost 1,500 shots in his NBA career
Pre-Cup Quote: "This is it. It's for all the marbles. I'm sitting in the house loading up the pump, I'm loading up the Uzis, I've got a couple of M-16s, couple of nines, couple of joints with some silencers on them, couple of grenades, got a missile launcher."
So, yeah a nine-inch height advantage and willingness to use copious amounts of weaponry pretty much does it for me. Look out Italy, look out Ghana. Here comes the Big Ticket.
Of course, this idea originates with Fox Sports columnist Jim Reineking, who posts an entire soccer team featuring America's greatest athletes with KG in goal...
"Throw in a wingspan of more than seven feet and the quick reflexes required to play in the NBA, and it'll be tough for even the world's best strikers to get a ball past him (that's given that they can even get by our Fearsome Foursome of defenders [Troy Polamalu, Joey Porter, Brian Urlacher and Roy Williams]."

If he falls on the ground, there's a 30% chance someone will make an honest mistake and kick his bald head.
As long as you had Charles Oakley and Ray Lewis at fullback, it wouldn't matter who was in goal. You could just scare theball back across midfield. -
Kasey Keller is probably the best goalkeeper in the world.....but he didn't do very well yesterday. Then again....it would be funny to see KG in net.
BTW...thanks for makin me Blog of the Week!

The coaches "System" balls in the air directly forward, impossible to handle and easy to defend.
