Listen to Band of Horses
Saw Band of Horses Wednesday at Black Cat in DC and, while I wasn't totally blown away, would like to take this opportunity to have you check them out, if you haven't already. Their sound is somewhat reminiscent of My Morning Jacket (for the vocals and alt-country tinge) as well as the Shins (similar hooks and same label).
Anyway, many thanks to KCRW for sending me to the show (I hung posters in exchange for tickets), and here are four mp3s (start with 'Funeral') to get you started. Also check out the poster El Jefe Design made special for the show, which is inspired by the Band of Horses song 'Monster' and now hangs on my office wall...
Update: DCist reviews the show (basically saying it was good, not great) and mentions Arcade Fire as a point of comparison. I guess that's apt, especially on 'Funeral.'
