Kenny Rogers Is My New Favorite Player

With all apologies to Jim Edmonds, I have a new favorite baseball player who's not on the O's or Nats. That's right, after 23 amplified and animated innings of shutout playoff baseball, I'm ready to make The Gambler mine.

This is actually Campbell Scott, who you may know from such films as Singles and Roger Dodger.

And while we're here, it's worth mentioning that Detroit Tigers Weblog and Get Up, Baby! are blogging on AOL Sports during the World Series over at the creatively titled AOL Sports World Series Blog. Good for AOL for inviting those guys, and good for those guys for taking them up on the offer. We'll be reading.

I have an idea ... let's start giving urine and blood tests before every game to check for doping ... and we could have all the pitchers line up, have their hands inspected, and then taped up like a boxer until they go into the game. We could regulate the length of their fingernails, not allow them to raise their hands past their armpits during the game for fear of a spitball ... of course they would have to call "time" for the third baseman to straighten their hat.  Or maybe, we could just let them play the game like they have for THE LAST 100 YEARS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Call it what it is.  He's a cheat!  Pure and simple.  He should have been ejected and then suspension would have been next.  The pine tar on the hand was removed.  The pine tar on the cap and glove remained.  Tigers fans should be ashamed.  The Cardinals have a ball in the dugout the Fox showed during the game.  LaRussa's friendship with Leyland saved Roger's butt.

Kenny Rogers is a very prolific player but the Pine Tar incident from yesterday is incredibly fishy
