Introducing Dem Heizman Boyz
NBA FanHouse's lovely and talented Miss Gossip drops the email of the day on my lonesome crowded inbox:
"don't lie Jamie, you were out in the club last night trying to do da heizman on dat ho, weren't you?"
What exactly is "da Heizman on dat ho," you ask? I was wondering the same thing, until I followed Gossip's link and found this sparkling jewel:
That right there is six kids in an Albany State (Ga.) dorm room deep in the Dirty South showing off a dance that will inevitably sweep the nation via YouTube and MySpace. Really, it's a brilliant nugget of technological pop perfection that's already being performed by marching bands (2:40 mark) and imitated by girls in football jerseys.
The song is catchy, the steps are simple and I'm betting it gets to Columbus, Ohio in time for Troy Smith to pull da Heizman on dat ho during the BCS Championship. Of course, if Reggie Bush's people are savvy enough, they'll have him break it out next Sunday in the Superdome vs. the Skins.

This may be Massachusetts-specific slang... but "the Heisman" is generally used to symbolize getting rejected by a girl.... as in, "I tried to pick her up, but she gave me the Heisman."
If somebody asks him what the Heisman is, the recipient will then point one knee up, while thrusting out the stiff arm... replicating both the statue's pose and the girl making him talk to the hand.
Again... this may be local patois. I will add that black kids use it all the time up here. It's ghetto-fabulous! -
ok, but seriously, Dane was doing that dance as a JV cornerback for GBurg high! Also, any shot at the next guy in our group who gets married....has the DJ play that song? I'm practicing just in case!
