Hearing the new Bloc Party album
Pistol Pete, Now He Had All the Game
When it comes to YouTube clips, it ain't easy topping a Maravich mixtape. The yo-yo handle, dead-eye shooting and unreal passing, all of it before packed houses fawning over floppy socks and shaggy hair. It's clear that every one of us would've payed to see him play, and it's all on display in this highlight reel put together to promote the Maravich book, which I may need to pick up after putting down Dave Eggers' latest.
Many thanks to Sports On My Mind for turning me on to the video.

They reviewed two Maravich biographies well in today's Times. The reviewer complained about how hard it is to find Pistol Pete highlights, and how he would have to go rummaging through stacks VHS cassettes to find the good stuff. God bless the Tube.
I second the request for an opinion on that Eggers book. -
JKB,
The new Eggers novel is quite good, despite the heavy subject matter (a somewhat fictionalized biography of a Sudanese refugee, or one of the Lost Boys, as he finds his way to Ethiopa and eventually Atlanta). Recommended. -
He died a Celtic, btw.

Nice clip reel. I already devoured that new Maravich book by Federman and Terrill (which was thrilling and amazingly detailed). How is the new Egger's? I read "Heatbreaking, etc." a year ago and was quite impressed.
