Hearing The The -- 'This Is the Day'
FanHouse Memo: 'Your Kids Too, Dawg'
Aside from myself, the only other AOL guy focused on FanHouse is John Clifford Ness, and each weekday he sends email to industry types showcasing our site's best posts from the day that was. He also publishes these emails to his blog under the tag 'FanHaus AM Memo.' Since John is getting his Sideways on in northern California right now, I'm handling the duties this week. The memo usually contains upwards of 50 links, so here are my ultra-favorites, along with a smattering of commentary ...
· You have to check out the threatening voicemail Devil Ray Elijah Dukes left for his wife. Here's just a tease: "It's on, dawg. You dead, dawg. I ain't even bulls-------. Your kids too, dawg."· Phillippi Sparks' daughter wins Idol. She probably wouldn't have made it to the final four last season.
· Fark gets its photoshopping hands on the Carson Palmer sausage ad, which was posted on FanHouse first (yes, I'm proud of that). The "penis" one is high comedy.
· We can't get enough of Mario Williams and his Lambo.
· Our columnist/bloggers come correct with two NBA pieces: 'The Lottery Saved the League' (Shoals) and 'Tanking Is an Unfortunate Fact of NBA Life' (MJD).
· Nate Jones is an email machine, so much so that his behind-the-scenes conversations with the NBA FanHouse group are sometimes the highlight of my day. He brings that magic out in public with his take on LeBron and why The King needs to learn Melo's post moves.
· Hey, Tony Gwynn is losing weight.
· Check out A-Rod's dirty slide that had everyone yapping yesterday.
· We need this bobblehead for Blog Show.
· Watch more drunken video from the Preakness.
· UFC makes it to the cover of SI. Because I've never watched this sport, it makes me feel old and married.
· Paris Hilton used to play ice hockey, and the peanut gallery is having a field day.
Finally, I really had a hard time decided which video to post. It came down to two: 1) The '98 version of Kobe schooling kids in three-on three or 2) The '07 version of Jerry Rice schooling an NFL hopeful cornerback. I'm going with Rice, primarily due to brevity, but Kobe is hot too.
