Wizards' Nick Young Selection Is Blogger-Approved
I already supported Big Ernie Grunfeld's selection of Nick Young with Washington's 16th overall pick, but nostalgia-inducing Wiz blog Bullets Forever asked me to go on record yet again with fresh INCITES! insight. And so I did, along with five other Wizards blogger-types, and five out of six are in favor of the NY selection. Head over to BF for the real deal, and here's an excerpt from the brilliantly named Bobtimist Prime over at DC Optimist:
"Words cannot truly express how magnificent I feel about this pick. Many-a 'Tism-hater will shudder at the thought of another defense-avoiding, highlight-reel clamoring, offensive-prowess seeking, kid-two-guard being selected by the wiz when they may have thought there had to be some larger boringer stiff out there to solve this supposedly unreparable big man situation. However, we at the DC Optimist will always trust in newly-minted president of all basketball related Wizardsness Ernie Grunfeld, who in the last two drafts has used brilliance to optimize menial selection spots. Maybe none of us have seen Oleksey Pecherov outside of some grainy soviet footage, but from the words of Ivan Carter and the praise of other non-optimism-themed-blog-writers, he seems to be a) large, and b) not a stiff. With him joining the fold with Andray Blatche, another emerging Grunfeld-brilliantly-selected big, we feel that this big man situation that Stephen A. Smith was screaming about Thurday night is straight."
My sentiments exactly, although I'm not quite as high on the frontcourt situation. Sure, Bulletproof and Big Oily are the future, but continued ugliness is in store for '07-08. But at least our new two guard can dunk off a behind-the-back 360 (clip via The Dude Abides)!
Update: Wizznutzz weighs in on the draft, saying "Nick will be perfect comedy sidekick for Gil" and so much more.

As a huge USC fan, I can say that I think you'll like Nick Young. He's better on D than you might think because he's a pretty good team defender.
Plus, he can be like the understudy for Arenas. He rocked a fro-hawk a season or two ago and has a very skateboard-ish fashion sense. He's a character for sure.
