Lee Corso Is Not Funny
The funniest thing I've heard today is this clip illustrating Lee Corso's hilarious lack of a sense of humor. Apparently, he was on a Dallas sports talk radio show last week and overreacted to a harmless joke by one of the hosts. What followed was, well, absurd. For as good as he is on ESPN College GameDay, he comes off pretty badly here. And, as a fellow radio host (OK, internet radio host), I must say the hosts handled Corso's little blowup pretty damn well.
Many thanks to Sports by Brooks for dictation of the on-air altercation, and thanks as well to Sports Bar & Buffet for finding and posting it.
Speaking of Sports Bar & Buffet, he made a pretty good post yesterday with audio links to the top-five 'Homer Call of the Year' finalists.
Update: This clip is old but funny nonetheless. Read the original post made back in February at Six Meat Buffet (thanks, Deadspin).

Corso is of a different generation. Sometimes people like that are offended by some outrageous jokes shock jocks like that can make, such as Yogi Berra's lawsuit against TBS for a joke that passes as harmless in the current climate. To him, that probably was an insult.
I can only judge by what little I have seen of the guy, but he seemed to be a genuinely nice person when I met him after a College Gameday I was present at. He was very friendly in the encounter, and never turned down either a picture or autograph request, or even someone who wanted to talk to him for a few seconds. -
Since the airing of this episode with Lee Corso, some folks have claimed Lee Corso was trying to outdo the radio station's Sports hosts by his own "bit" by seemingly having an on-air altercation to make it appear he was upset when in fact, the joke was on the radio station.
I don't think Lee Corso is that sharp. I just think he's an ass.

I've been to a few College Gameday sets and have understood for a while that Corso is nothing but a pompous old man.
Back when Keyshawn was still with USC, Gameday set up out at Notre Dame before the big game. During one of their breaks, the producers found a kid in the audience with an extravagant USC hat, and they asked him if they could use it for their broadcast. Naturally, he said that they could, but asked if he could meet Lee Corso as a stipulation. The producers brought him forward and took his hat to Corso, and explained in front of everyone that the kid wanted to meet him.
Corso goes (with his microphone still on), "Just the hat, not the kid."
From that point on, I had no use for Lee Corso.
