Hearing the Beach Boys -- 'Heroes and Villians'

Wild Card Weekend Recap

In football terms, Randy Moss is one of the great heroes and villians of our time. He responded to the heat for giving up on his team by coming out on the Frozen Tundra w/ an Oscar Gamble afro, scoring an early TD and literally telling the Packers fans to "look at the scoreboard, mother[expletive]s!" Then, on an injured ankle, he catches a 34-yarder to put Minnesota up 14 in the 4th, jogs to the goalpost, fakes pulling down his pants, moons the Packer faithful and rubs faux-booty juice on the green & yellow goalpost. Joe Buck's reaction? "Disgusting!" Yours? Share it here. Pigskin Bloggers had this to say:

· Bleeding Purple: "Moss is a poor excuse for a professional player. He clearly stated in all his interviews before the game that he did not care about his actions. Then when he has the chance to just show a tad of class, or gain a miniscule of the ton of respect he has lost with all football fans, he chooses to be an ass. Literally. It was disgusting. No fine. No penalty. Did only the announcers and fans see that? What about the refs? What about Tice? What about his teamates? I say that either Tice or the NFL needs to slap him with at least a million dollar fine. And he should be benched for the playoffs. You heard me -- benched."

· Packerz Zone: "The little 'moon' celebration Moss did I take very personal. Randy Moss, on behalf of all Packer fans, just pushed the game-on button. Oh yeah, it's on! I'd be ready to play some football the next time I meet the Packers if I were Randy Moss, 'cause believe me, the Packers and us fans will remember."

· Belly Check: "Randy took the baton from injured kindred spirit T.O. He also did an interview that sounded a lot like the Carmelo Anthony Stop Snitchin' DVD, which ended with Randy saying, 'We whooped that ass, though.'"

· Raiders Ramblings: "Moss is an extremely gifted wide receiver. He's also the total ass he pretended to bare at Packers fans. Have we learned nothing from the Pacers/Pistons incident?"

60% of fans on AOL call him a 'disgrace.'

· Big Blue Notes: "Maybe if the Packers had kept him out of the endzone we wouldn't have had to see him. He's a classless jerk with great talent, and w/ T.O. hurt there should be one of those on the field in Philadelphia next week."

· Sportz Assassin: "Every NFL pre-game show interviewed Moss, and I heard the same answers: 'I don’t care.'

Jets 20-Chargers 17
· Coztanza's Jets Commentary: "Any more questions about ChadPennington's ability to win the big game? I'm looking at you, New York beat writers. 23-33, 279 yards and 2 TDs show what this man is made of. He came through when he needed to. The guy is playing hurt, but still found a way to lead the team to victory.Any questions about his ability to get the ball down the field were answered by his throw to Santana Moss, and the informative stat ABC showed about how he was the league's best passer on deep throws. I hope I never again hear complaints about how the Jets are 'stuck' with Chad."

"Eric Barton might have committed the dumbest penalty in the history of football, roughing Drew Brees on 4th down and goal late in the game. This gave the Chargers new life, and allowed them to send the game into overtime. There is no excuse for what he did. He almost cost this team the season. He needs to have a big game against the Steelers to atone."

Colts 49-Broncos 24
· Dungy's Dungy: "What happened in Denver was a confirmation to the naysayers of what everyone can expect come next Sunday in New England. The sheer power of the Indianapolis WR corps versus Denver’s overrated secondary was a mismatch made in heaven. For any player in the NFL -- John Lynch, Cramp Bailey, whoever -- to think that it is all right to spout off at the mouth for a week after beating the Colts 2nd and 3rd team by two touchdowns, about how 'soft' the Colts wide receivers are, they should be fined by the league for stupidity, and Dallas Clark should be the recipient of the money paid. In your face John Lynch! 35 points at the half, Peyton ran for a sneak, 221 yards for Bruce Wayne, over 100 for Dallas Clark, touchdowns for almost everyone, oh my…"

Rams 27-Seahawks 20
· Seahawks Fans Anonymous: "When you are a Seahawks fan, you appreciate what you get and do not take for granted the things that have been forever out of reach beyond our grasp. Just like that last, desperate pass was out of Bobby Engram's grasp. Some have said that final dropped pass was the story of the entire season, and that is hard to argue. Seeing a season's worth of granite-handed recievers trying to catch passes with their itty-bitty alligator arms would lead you to believe that dropped passes are the story of the season. A bit of irony. Live by the sword, die by the sword as it is. However, that would be unfair. I am not going to say that. I am instead going to devote this column to the things that went right this season. The players that did good things and brought a division championship to the emerald city. Those that I do not mention know who they are. They know that they are wrong. They are the ones who have to look at themselves in the mirror."
· Rams Blog: "Well, that takes care of NFC West Champion Seattle. I don't want to say I told you so, but with Buffalo gone, and Carolina 'toast,' that leaves the COLTS and RAMS as the hottest teams in football."

And now, for Eagles, Steelers and Pats Bloggers high on the bye...

Year of the Bird: "The Eagles are back in action this Sunday against the same Vikingswe schooled in Week 2. Back at the Linc, the smell of playoffs in the air, no #81 cruising down the sidelines... Just how will these Eagles fair against a rejuvenated Vikings team? I'll go slowly [w/ 5 reasons] for those of you who STILL doubt the Eagles chances at making it to the Super Bowl."

Black & Gold Blog: "Statistics will be used by Jets fans all week long in much the same way that a drunk leans against a street lamp; it's there more for support than enlightenment. They'll use stats from the Charger game to block out all those things they said the week before about Chad's complete ineptness. But sadly, they'll forget that 'meaningless crap' a week later after the Black & Gold defense bruises him up like a dalmation pup. Yep, they'll turn their back on their losing leader faster than Rueben Studard turns his back on his next diet plan. Enjoy the week, Chadsky. Make as many friends as you can. You'll need someone to go outside and get the mail."

Monponsett's Belly Check: "All this sets the stage for next week, We have a pile o' pigskin lined up, and if you're just beginning to get ready for it, you're already late. I've been rubbing BALCO cream into my frontal lobes for weeks now, and I've already done a cycle of androstenodine, the drug that bumped Mark McGwire over the 70 home run mark. My husband likes my nice new broad back."

But if Randy Moss was endorsing Preparation H that would make everything ok. Pipe down NFL. If you find it so offensive then cut the Viagra commercials. Less hypocrisy, please!

It's so disgusting that the networks  keep showing it over and over. Get over it. It's not like he killed someone.
