Hearing the Hives
Friday Morning Blog Report ~ Divisional Preview
Welcome to football's finest weekend. The eight best teams (sorry, San Diego) wage winter-weather warfare in four games over two days for the right to play-in to the Super Bowl. And the crown jewel of the action -- aside from Moss' afro -- is the classic COLTS-PATRIOTS matchup. Post your prediction, hear the Pigskin Bloggers say on-air that Peyton's gonna choke and read what they're saying now:
Belly Check: "Tom Brady need only blame the problems inherent in gripping the ball with two Super Bowl rings when asked why he doesn't have 50 TDs. He's basted Indy's secondary like a turkey whenever he has needed to, and they don't seem any better back there since the last 5 times we've beaten them. Ty Law missed a ton of that game earlier this year, and Corey wasn't the factor he grew to become as the season progressed. We still beat them."
Dungy's Dungy: "The Pats don't have a chance. There are just too many injuries in Foxboro to match up with the power of the Colts. Brady has not been on a rest, he has disappeared. Sure, the past makes things look like the Colts are in for another disappointing end, but have they been watching the Colts all season, or just looking at the scores the day after? To truly understand what has happened after the thrashing takes place this weekend, you would truly have to be a Colts fan."
Hear these two go at it on PIGSKIN BLOGGERS LIVE radio Tuesday night at 7PM ET.
Super Bowl Trophies vs. MVP Awards
· Packerz Zone: "This is Manning's year to get over and past the Patriots. Colts 24-20."
· Raiders Ramblings: "Following [my dad's] retirement and move to his childhood home of Indiana he started rooting for the Colts, and the Colts became my team as well. The only time in my adult lifeI’ve ever broken down and cried over a game’s outcome was after the 1995 AFC Championship game, when one blown call and one dropped pass kept the Colts out of the Super Bowl. I wanted so bad, worse than I’ve ever wanted most anything imaginable in my life, to be able to call my beloved Dad that day and together revel in a moment of shared sports triumph. Instead, all I had was the empty gnawing feeling that now I would never have the chance to celebrate with my Dad the Colts going to the Super Bowl. Sadly, I was right; he passed away in 1999. Somewhere in that unspeakably awful time when my life irrevocably changed and I came to know loss like never before, I offered a silent prayer: that one day, I would be able to lay a royal blue silk flower on his grave, one bearing a white ribbon embossed with silver letters saying simply, 'Indianapolis Colts -- Super Bowl Champions.' I pray that this year my prayer will be replied to with a yes."
· Sportz Assassin: "As much as I respect what New England has done this year… that secondary is too banged up. And what clinches it for me was watching AJ Feely and the horrible Dolphins ability to pass on them a few weeks back. If they can do that… then what can Manning do against them?? Colts 31-21."
· Seahawks Fans Anonymous: "Indianapolis has all the momentum coming in, while the Pat have a sense of gridlocked inertia. This is because the Pats have not played a meaningful game since Thankgiving or so. You want to know why? Because the Pats are that good. Hug your MVP trophy tight, Peyton. You are not getting the Super Bowl one."
JETS AT STEELERS Coztanza's Commentary: "The Jets matched Pittsburgh punch for punch in their first meeting. In the end the Steelers prevailed, and the Jets were left with a bitter taste in their mouth. This is the kind of thing that motivates a team, and you can be sure that they are hungry for a rematch. John Abraham giving it a go would help. He is the biggest pass rushing threat on the team. Abraham owes it to the team to forget about himself and play. Hopefully he realizes how he let the team down last week and tries to atone against Pittsburgh. This should be a tough, hard-fought game. Jets 10-9."
Black & Gold Blog: "I hear all of those cabbies ranting about when the Jets came into Pittsburgh, played a tough game and it was tied 3-3 after the 3rd quarter... blah, blah... Wake me when you're finished. The only significance that game had was you guys were number 11 in our current winning streak and now you get to be a part of history again - number 15. In the NFL, they play FOUR quarters before concluding who was the better team. The Steelers defense has allowed only two (2) TD's in our last four (4) home games. They will apply more pressure than the Jets felt in the first meeting as Chad begins to show his duck throwing ability. Steelers 27-13."
The Bus and C-Mart: Hall-of-Fame RBs
· Packerz Zone: "I like Pittsburgh in a runaway, but if the game is close Pittsburgh's D will put the game away. Pittsburgh 24-7."
· Raiders Ramblings: "Pennington will get over his stomach virus and be at his absolute best, enough so that he’ll put enough points on the board to overcome the Steelers who while not losing any games since nearly forever didn’t look that great during the second half of the season."
· Sportz Assassin: "If Pennington has to win the game with his arm….the Steelers have them right where they want him. All Pittsburgh must do is just be themselves. Steelers 20-13."
· Seahawks Fans Anonymous: "Roth his nuts will only throw something like three passes but the Steelers will still roll. The Jets are good too, and that is the tragedy. They do not deserve to lose, like Clint said... deserve hasn't got anything to do with it."
VIKINGS AT STEELERS The Year of the Bird: "Five reasons why the Eagles will dominate the Vikes: 1)Forget T.O., is Randy Moss injured. 2) Our secondary. 3) McNabb to Westbrook vs. Culpepper to who? 4) Andy Reid, Andy Reid, Andy Reid 5) Reversing the curse.
· Bleeding Purple: "10% chance of winning for us -- the same odds I gave the Vikings [last week]. But a 10% chance is better than zero. I think the number increases if Moss is benched."
Rocket Arms on Wheels
· Packerz Zone: "Close game, but the Eagles' defense is far better than the Vikings' D and will put the game away late. Eagles 27-13."
· Raiders Ramblings: "It is lamentable that Terrell Owens will miss this game, as the drama of seeing him and Randy Moss in the ultimate one-upmanship contest of which player can do the dumbest thing after a play while doing the most spectacular thing to make the play would have been a sight to behold."
· Sportz Assassin: "Picking the Vikings to win intrigues me…who but Westbrook can score for Philly….but I just think that Eagles defense is too strong for them. They have the best secondary in the NFL…and can hold their own against Moss, Robinson, Burleson and company. They can put pressure on Culpepper and force him to make hurried throws. Eagles get to their fourth-straight NFC title game…17-10."
· Seahawks Fans Anonymous: "The Eagles will go through the Vikings like a bullet through my Humvee's 'hillbilly' armor. Randy Moss won't get the chance to show his ass this time."
RAMS AT FALCONS Rams Are True Underdogs: "TheRamscome home to where they WON THE SUPER BOWL at the Georgia Dome, and let me tell you, nothing, I mean NOTHING feels better than preparing for a playoff game in the exact locker room where all the champagne popped in January, 2000. Many of the current Rams have been in not one but TWO Super Bowls since 2000, similar to the Pats, and frankly, I think the Rams get darn bored during regular season, then PUMPED for the playoffs. I see this as a blowout. Rams 41-21."
· Falcons Blog: "Personally, I hate St.Louis."
Bulger Steps to the Vick Experience
· Show Gossip: Travis Tritt's "'Falcons Fever' will be played during the pre-game and following Falcons touchdowns. So grab a cowboy hat to accessorize that Michael Vick jersey and take a listen to the new Falcons fight song right here."
· Packerz Zone: "I like the Rams chances of keeping Vick contained. Rams 16-13."
· Raiders Ramblings: "Didn’t KISS do an album called Psycho Circus? It’ll be an appropriate soundtrack to this game, as you never know what you’ll get from either of these teams on any given Sunday. Experience willwin out and the Rams will prevail."
· Sportz Assassin: "The Falcons Rod Coleman will have a big game, and you’ll hear his name a lot. And Bulger will be seeing him in his sleep. Falcons 23-14."
· Seahawks Fans Anonymous: "There is not a bigger loser in the playoffs right now than the St. Louis Rams."
Enjoy the games.

WOW, What a game, not a blowout but I think that the eagles could have won that one. Came Down to The Last Seconds. Anyway, we had a Huge Party and Made the Local TV News and Newspaper. To here what happened just read the newspaper below. (Provided by The Citizens Voice.com):
At the door, they expected - or maybe more appropriately - demanded your allegiance.
"If you're not an Eagles fan, you are now," said Jim O'Reilly to the few who dared walk in not flaunting the loyal green and silver.
It was Super Bowl Sunday. Eagles Sunday. The Sunday the 24-year-old waited for all his life.
O'Reilly, dawning a Terrell Owens No. 81 jersey and his face coated in green finger paint, didn't have second thoughts about where he wanted to be for this special day.
He and dozens of other crazed Eagles fans around the area know it as the "Lizzard Room" (aka Eaglesville, Pennsylvania, as seen on a large sign displayed on one of the building's walls).
On Sunday, when his beloved Eagles were taking on the New England Patriots for football's top prize, he and about 75 other locals were on hand at the 40-by-30 foot building in Warrior Run, built specifically for Eagles games.
Watching on a 10-by-10 foot TV projection screen, accompanied by thunderous surround sound, they burst into the patented "E-A-G-L-E-S - Eagles!" cheer when Donovan McNabb and company marched in to Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.
For 60 minutes they didn't relent, periodically chanting "Defense! Defense!" and booing the officials when a call didn't go their way.
When the Eagles made a first down or a big defensive stop, there were high fives around. When the Eagles scored the first touchdown, those high fives became hugs and even tears of joy.

Well ladies, here we are again and what a run it's been. Ever since I predicted Tennesee to win the Super Bowl when they missed by just a yard against the Rams, I have been officially "on fire". Only missing 1 Super Bowl winner in the last 5 years from BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS! Yes that's right, not only that but the two New England bowls, I saw weeks ahead of the playoffs. That's not saying much last year, but I called the NE-STL matchup the night of their regular season game in 2001. So who have I picked this year??? We at least 2 months ago I saw two teams I felt would probably reach the final game. Those two teams are NE and ATL. I must admit however PITT is as good a team as the league has seen in years and will be dangerous. The NE-PITT game will be the best two teams going at it in the playoffs since DALL-SF in the early 90's. Vick is too much for PHIL (and would have been even with Owens) and will require special planning for the SB but Vick isn't enough of a pass threat ultimately to even stay in the game with NE. Enjoy your third cahmpionship in 4 years NE fans. This time everybody will just be speechless, having no furthur way to criticize the greatest team I've ever seen. NFL fan since '78.......

Can Dungy win a BIG game? Has he ever? I could coach this team to a first an dout each year playoff appearance. It takes good coaching to get to the Super Bowl.
