Power (Rankings) to the People: Week 5 Mailbag

Before I delve into the Power Rankings for Week 6, coming out Monday this week, time to dig into the comments from last week's rankings and give the people a little feedback so they know where I was coming from, and where I'll be going in the future. I hope you all like hearing about the Brewers, because that's about the only feedback I got last week.

These were some decent power rankings but THE BREW CREW IS NOT 5!!! They deserve at least 3.  5 reasons:  JJ Hardy, Prince Fielder, Capuano, Suppan, Cordero.  I think enough is said

I could list five players from each of the teams ahead of them that are just as good, I could even list the actual five best players on each team too.

they deserve higher than 5, what they don't get no respect? are they the Rodney Dangerfield of baseball now? They deserve a higher rank

Because the NL Central is the worst division in baseball?

Brewers have the best record in baseball #5?

They have the best record in baseball by a 1/2 game, and as I mentioned above they play in the worst division in baseball. Aside from a three-game set with the Dodgers to open the season and six games against the Cubs, the Brewers have had a steady diet of NL Central bottomfeeders and the Marlins. They play the Nationals this week, then play 13 straight against the Mets, Phillies, Twins and Dodgers, so before we get too carried away with the Brewers, let's see how they fare against some of the tougher competition in the NL and an AL team. Not taking anything away from them, just saying it's early and they haven't really been tested.

Brewers are legit,  they have the best and deepest pitching staff in Baseball.  They need to prove they are more than 1 month wonders and I believe they are.  They have Jeff Braun at triple A  and he is tearing it up,  if he is brought up to play third its over, start printing  playoff tickets and world series tickets as they have the players to pull it off and win it.

The Brewers are legit. They do not have the best pitching staff in baseball (I think that honor goes to the Red Sox or the Angels, though they may have the deepest with Yovani Gallardo stashed in Triple-A. And his name is Ryan Braun, not Jeff Braun. He could make a huge difference, but I think the Cubs and the rest of the NL will have something to say about all those tickets you want to print.

The brewers have the best record in the bigs and are ranked number 5? hmmm, the Brewers are the tigers of 2007, a great strong young team with a few humble leaders that are definately going to smoke our divison, our piching staff is off the hook, look at the stats so far it's incredible, our offense is also something to be reckoned with just look at j.j. hardy's rbi's for this month alone, not to mention his hit streak, right behind him is price fielder who's ready to break out this year, the times of tepid enthusiam for the crew is offically over, look out this is our year and I'm not afraid to say it this early on.

Don't expect a huge jump in the rankings, because the top five did pretty well as a whole this week. Also I couldn't care less how many RBI J.J. Hardy has so far. He's off to a fantastic start though.

Not to rain on the parade again, but the Cubs are probably going to hang with the Brewers all year:

Team A: Run differential of +30 so far.
Team B: Run differential of +34 so far.

Team A is the Brewers, Team B is the Cubs.

The Tigers are back in the number three spot, maybe they are back to claim their first place Al Power Ranking. Don't put them in the past tense of 2006 yet they are still a great team and aren't going away.

Now thats better, you gave the Brewers the 3 spot they deserved.  They may have a "weak" beginning but you can at least give us Milwaukee fans some hype here.  Look at the Tigers last year, out of nowhere they took over and the brew crew has the best shot of being that team.  JJ and Prince are showing that, don't you think?
