The Gospel of Toe-Socks: Book of Dice-K

Meant to write about this over the weekend, but while the rest of you are enjoying a few brews and some BBQ this fine Memorial Day, I'm stuck in my cubicle at AOL. Anyway, it was revealed during Saturday's Red Sox-Rangers game that Daisuke Matsuzaka wears five-toed socks, and moreover, he's spread the practice to several of the players on the Red Sox, including Kyle Snyder, Mike Lowell, Alex Cora and Doug Mirabelli. The ever-diligent, omnipresent guys from the FanHaus can take it from here:

Anyway, these seem to actually have some sort of competitive advantage, as they aid balance by allowing players to grip the ground with each toe individually. At the very least, they showcase just how well those in the Red Sox clubhouse all seem to be getting along. As they run away with the AL East, that sort of chemistry can't hurt things.

So besides being funny-looking, these socks actually have a purpose. That's a good thing, because Julian Tavarez is providing all the weird anyone can take from the Red Sox.
