2008... So Far.

The photo below is the list I am keeping of the books I read in 2008...

When I look at this list (so far), I see old friends (Pern, Belgarath, Raistlin etc), and I see new friends, (Bartamaeus, Mary Russell, Cecelia etc) and I see time enjoyed inside my books.

Knowing this I still wonder, how come it's enjoyable just to look at your books even when you aren't reading them?  The people and places in those books, and of course the mystical creatures, are not real.... yet they continue to make me smile, and continue to make me wish I could run away to those special places, with those special people and live some of the lives that are only real in authors heads.  Creepy huh?

I like this entry.  I am also a voracious reader.  Although my habits tend toward non-fiction (philosophy, history, psychology, religion) I have stacks of books that I haven't really opened yet.  I stare at them with the same expectation of pleasure and adventure.  There's a public library one block down the street.  When I finish a book I take it over there and put it in the donation bin.  But some of them I can't bear to part with.

I used to be able to read like that. In the last few years I've run out of time and my eyes have grown worse. I'm glad to say that I've read at least five books in 2008. I mean that's better than none at all. I miss reading a lot.

Myrtle looks cute in that graphic. I would imagine especially while reading books everyone feels transported to those far off places, I know I do. Please don't run off to those magical places. Helen

Not at all creepy.  You are a reader and probably a writer!
