If you are not planning on traveling to Kentucky this weekend but you still want to wear a big hat and sip mint juleps, try throwing a Kentucky Derby party.  Invite your friends over, tune in on the TV and mix up your own concoction.  About.com offers some ideas.

If you don't have room or you don't have friends, maybe head out to a local party.  Smack Mellon in Brooklyn, NY is throwing a Kentucky Derby party.  Metromix has some suggestions for alternative Kentucky Derby sips that you can find at Firebox Restaurant in Hartford, CT.  Casey Moran's in Chicago is having a combo party to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and watch the derby.  And for West Coasters, Metromix comes through again, with a great little guide for LA observers.

Wherever you are, enjoy the race but try not to loose your shirt.
