"I'm an Irish Setter/Saint Bernard mix."
A friend was recently involved with a horse neglect case
(a very, very sad case) and she's now fostering the unhealthy,
parasite-filled, burr-covered, teeth falling out, barely touched,
never ridden horses. How many of them? Lots. She and her husband
now have an incredible workload. The good news is that the horses
are flourishing under their gentle care.
I went to see them on Saturday and it was so much fun! I haven't had
much exposure to horses, but I think they're amazing creatures. I "just
happened" to have an apple in my bag, so I made quite a few friends.
Bribery works. There were a number of mini-horses that were seized as well,
and they were wonderfully social despite their sad former circumstances.
I checked twice, and they are indeed "mini horses" not ponies. Don't ask
me what the difference is.
Now I want a Frankenpuppy AND a mini-horse:

I'm trying really hard to resist writing things like "widdle itsy-bitsy
bite-sized cutie-pie horses", but it's....not...working....can't resist....
urge....to....infantilize. One of those mini-horses is 35 years old, for
crying out loud!
I didn't take pictures of the regular horses because I was too busy petting
and loving them. An extra standoffish horse actually came over to me
and ate a treat from my hand, which convinced me that I'm a horse
whisperer. I have a gift!
This sad little guy broke my heart. Mr. Donkey stood at the edge of the
action, clearly wanting to come get a treat but too petrified to do so:

I tried using my magic whispering powers on him. No luck.
Guess it's for dogs and horses only.
