My last client of the day invited me to take a drive to Maryland to
visit her horse Romeo. I'm in a horse frame of mind these days,
so of course I accepted.
As we were getting in the car she stopped and asked me "You're not
afraid of horses, are you?" Um, no? But why are you asking?
Turns out Romeo lives in a field with about 20 other horses, so we
were going to be in the center of the action. I'd be a prime target
for a stampede, should they be so inclined. I informed her of my newly
earned "Horse Whisperer" status, and off we went.
The horses were lovely, and refrained from stampeding while the
newbie was around. Romeo and I made friends, until I stupidly let
him lick and chomp my fingers...and he decided that he didn't want
to let go. Thankfully, my Teflon fingers stood up to the challenge (dog
teeth are a good proving ground for horse teeth I guess.) Here's
Romeo, taste-testing my fingers

My client wants to teach Romeo to come when she calls him, so
we gave it a few test runs. She's an excellent dog trainer (I featured
her pup Cash a few weeks ago), so I'm sure Romeo will be doing
speedy recalls in no time.
