Many people assume that because I'm a dog trainer, I'm also
involved in the show dog world.
I'm not.
I have to say that I'm not a big fan of it. I'm more of a pet dog "who
cares what you look like, you're cute to me" kind of person. I feel
funny about the concept of "engineering" dogs to meet a breed
standard, and then judging them based on form alone. I think
temperament trumps looks any day. Give me an ugly-but-sweet dog
over a beautiful-but-nasty dog, thank you.
The "benching area" at Westminster was JAMMED, chaotic and crazy-hot.
This picture doesn't show how freaky-crowded it was. The dogs were
housed by breed in the little yellow sections:

While back there, I saw many beautiful dogs - shining examples
of their breeds:

I saw some silly stuff:

I saw Zeke and Sum's relatives:

I saw funny pushed-in faces:

But what I saw most often was stressed-out dogs:
(Yawning like this is an indication of stress)

(This guy was having grey paint applied)

I think he'd rather be sleeping on a comfy bed:

This guys looks ready to make a getaway:

The Dr. Doolittle side of me sensed a distinct lack of fun for the
dogs.....of course, this is just my perspective of the day. I'm
sure that there were many happy dogs there.
The sad fact is, I didn't see one wagging tail.
