"Are you my Mommy?"
Hubby and I had a very serious discussion about Bess II a few nights
ago. Very serious. Could we manage a 3-dog household? Would Zeke
and Sum welcome a new sibling? Is it the right decision for us?
The answer to each question, sadly, was no.
The problem is that my heart has been short-circuiting my head for
the past 9 weeks. Logic and reason? Huh? I'm too busy with the
cuteness over here.
I was very sad about our decision, even though I knew that it's
the right one. I dreamed sad dreams about the Frankenpuppies.
Then, something wonderful happened.
My new client Lili decided that she wanted Bess!
I almost fell out of my chair when I got her e-mail - it was just
too perfect! She works from home, she has a silly adult
dog named Buster, she's caring and very sweet....it's a match
made in heaven! I was, and am, thrilled.
I wanted to be there when she met Bess for the first time (yes,
she made the decision based on my description and a few
photos....yes, Buster should have met Bess first, but life ain't
perfect!), so I picked Bess up from Frankenpuppy Manor and
drove to our rendezvous area.
I'll admit that I picked her up early so I could spend some time with
her before saying good-bye.
We went to the local doggie boutique and had a blast:

New collar - itchy!

I took her to CVS and a pizza joint in this bag:

Everybody asked about her. "What is she? How old? So
cute!" It made me want her even more.
Then it was time for the hand-off. Lili fell in love immediately,
and I'd say that Bess took to her new Mom right away:

I'm really thrilled that Bess found such a great home, and I'm
happy that I'll get to see her for the next few weeks while I work
with Buster. And hopefully beyond. I'll be the doting Auntie!
Here's one last video tribute:

I'm sure it was a difficult decision for you and dear hubby. But, at least you know the family and know that Bess will be happy and loved there. Will Bess still be called Bess?
