Regular Season Week 5: Browns vs. Bears

Browns lead series all-time: 8-4-0

Last meeting (Regular Season): November 4, 2001: Bears 27, Browns 21 (OT)

Keys To Victory:

1. Stop Thomas Jones: Basically, the only offense the Bears have is their running game. You shut down the running game, you shut down the Bears. I say this because Kyle Orton has 1 TD and 6 INTs in the first three game (you can't expect much more from the rookie). Thomas Jones has four of the Bears seven touchdowns this year. His stats don't really stand out with the best in the league, but he is the big offensive producer for Chicago. He could take advantage of the Browns' lackluster rushing defense.

2: The Bears' Defense: Despite their lowly offense, the Bears' defense has been pretty good. So far, they've picked off 6 passes and only allowed 4 touchdowns. Three of the touchdowns came from the Bengals two weeks ago. Cincinnati is actually the best team the Bears have faced this year. Trent Dilfer has had three straight 200+ yards passing, so he'll be looking to give the Browns their first home win of the season. They'll have their hands full in this one.

3: Avoid Costly Turnovers and Penalties: A must. The Browns would've had two punt returns and an interception return for touchdowns if it wasn't for block-in-the-back penalties. They've had four or five illegal procedure flags called on them so far this year. These have been killer penalties that need to be avoided in this one. They've done a good job not turning the ball over. They need to continue that tomorrow.

Dawg Bones: Since the last regular season meeting between the Browns and the Bears in 2001, both teams have had a combined 15 quarterbacks play at least one game (Bear (10): Jim Miller, Chris Chandler, Henry Burris, Kordell Stewart, Rex Grossman, Jonathan Quinn, Craig Krenzal, Chad Hutchinson, Kyle Orton, Jeff Blake; Browns (5): Tim Couch, Kelly Holcomb, Jeff Garcia, Josh McCown, Trent Dilfer)...Josh Cribbs, Orpheus Roye, and Matt Stewart are listed as questionable for this game.
