Regular Season Week 6: Browns vs. Ravens Preview

Sorry for not writing a review to last week's game. School's been a killer. Anyway, here the Browns/Ravens preview.

Ravens lead series all-time 8-4-0.

Last meeting: November 7th, 2004: Ravens 27, Browns 13

Key to Victory

1. Keep Jamal Lewis at bay: One of the big suprises of the year is Jamal Lewis' slide. He has yet to have a breakout game since he got out of prison. However, it seems like he always has a big game against the Browns. That may happen, since the Browns have shown very little rush defense. The Ravens don't have much of a passing game with Anthony Wright under center, so they'll have to concentrate on the running game. The Browns will HAVE to stop Jamal Lewis.

2: Play Without Edwards: The report that Braylon Edwards would be out 4-6 weeks upset me. This leaves the Browns with only four receivers coming into Sunday. One guy that needs to step up to the plate is Josh Cribbs. Sure, he's a converted quarterback. I know he's coming off of injury himself. But if there was ever a time the Browns needed Cribbs' help, this was definately that time. Also, look for the Browns' tight ends to get a workout in this game.

3: Avoid Turnovers and Penalties: Again, when the Browns stay away from costly turnovers and flags, they usually come away with the win. This is, or WAS a great Ravens defense. There not playing like they did last year. Dilfer needs another big game, but he also needs to make sure he doesn't overthrow his receivers like last week when he threw two interceptions.

Dawg Bones: This has been a rivalry since the Browns' resurrection in 1999. The team that used to be the Browns vs. the new generation Browns. The team that moved from Cleveland to Baltimore and won a Super Bowl years later vs. a team that has yet to see a Super Bowl. A team with all the legacy, Hall of Famers and the history of Jim Brown vs. a team with a Super Bowl ring. This will be an interesting game to watch.
