Hypermiling


Ways to Maximize Your Gas Mileage: Just before I went on vacation, the Washington Post published a green version of their "Sunday Source" section that included an article about hypermiling, "Increase Your Gas Mileage," by Joshua Zumbrun.

"Hypermiling" is a method of modifying the way you drive to improve mileage and reduce emissions. Techniques include driving the speed limit, coasting and slightly over-inflating your tires.

Zumbrun relates his experience purchasing and getting the most out of his Honda Insight, a two-seat hybrid. He hit 75.6 mpg. You can also check out his online chat from Aug. 7.
