U.S. Agency Blocked Hurricane Report

Keeping Scientific Info From Being Released?  A report in the science journal Nature this week said that "A government agency blocked release of a report that suggests global warming is contributing to the frequency and strength of hurricanes, " according to the Associated Press.

This is old hat for the Bush Administration. Back in January, the New York Times reported that NASA tried to silence top climate scientist James Hansen.

And there was the story in June 2005 about the Bush aide who took it upon himself to "soften" wording in reports that linked greenhouse gas emissions to global warming.

So freedom of speech and freedom of information are not among the freedoms the current government supports, it seems to me.

Over 17,200 scientists in climatology or related fields have signed a petition against an alarmist interpretation of global warming, stating that there is no evidence that it is related to human activity, and that the global warming theory has no data to support it.  The media suppresses this information.  Read it yourself by pasting this link in your browser:  http://www.oism.org/pproject/index.htm

How sad, you have a forum that you could actually do some good with and you go out their in left field. It may be politically correct to dis the gov but the amount of good that is being done by the commited people in the gov is in spite of people and columns like Dan Kulpinski's ,Down to Earth Blog. Your claim to fame is you have been writing on the environment since 1997, why does this give you expertise?
The scientific evidence does not support the theory you attempt to expound on, Politically correct is not scientifically correct I would be interested to find what your agenda really is. It is obvious you do not want to pass on the data about our environment.
What in the world are you thinking about?  Try to do some good rather than postureing for the uninformed.

This information is correct.  The 2 page "fact sheet"  (not report) was not ready in time, so the White House never even saw it.   The association who wrote the report admits this fact!   Do not believe everything the media prints as some journals and journalists are biased in their political views and will print anything to distort issues in their favor.

Regardless of whether the increase of hurricances in recent years is caused by global warming, the fact remains global warming is real and it's serious.  I'm tired of these articles online telling the individual what he or she can do for the environment.  When is our government going to do something about it??   This isn't about planting a tree anymore, it's about changing the way our nation as a whole conducts its daily life, a change which can only be brought about by a uniform effort of the people AND its government.
