EPA Launches New Climate Change Site
Lots of Information, Well Organized: The Environmental Protection Agency launched its new climate change Web site Oct. 19 to little fanfare. I took a quick look at it and found it to be set up in a logical way and to be full of useful information about the science of climate change, the government's policies and tools for the public.
Go here for info on past climate change, including what's caused it and also graphs of "Changes in Carbon Dioxide and Temperature in the last 400,000 Years" and "Surface Temperatures Over the Last 1,100 Years." The first graph is amazing: The lines for temperature and carbon dioxide mirror each other until about 200 years ago, when carbon dioxide just goes straight up off the chart.
There's also a nice page about the "state of knowledge" -- what scientists know, what's likely and what's uncertain. Take note that scientists are virtually certain that:
- Human activities are changing the composition of Earth's atmosphere.
- The atmospheric buildup of CO2 and other greenhouse gases is largely the result of human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels.
- A warming trend of about 0.7 to 1.5°F occurred during the 20th century.
- The major greenhouse gases emitted by human activities remain in the atmosphere for periods ranging from decades to centuries.
- Increasing greenhouse gas concentrations tend to warm the planet.
As far as tools go, the site has a Personal Emissions Calculator powered by updated data. There is also a list of action steps that you can take at home, on the road, at the office and at school, to save energy, save money and reduce air pollution.
Check it out and let me know what you think.

I will have proof very soon to show how we can cut emissions, let's just see if anyone follows up on this.
