Mount Rainier Starts to Recover After Floods

River Flows Through Campground: Last week I heard a report on NPR about massive rains and flooding in Mount Rainier National Park in Washington. The park got 18 inches of rain in 36 hours, Nov. 6-7, swamping roads and bridges and forcing closure of the park (See "Officials Assess Flood Damage at Mt. Rainier"). Rangers hope to get the park open in a few weeks for the Christmas season.

NASA posted a satellite image this week showing the record rainfall in the Pacific Northwest.

My wife and I vacationed at Rainier three or four years ago. It is one huge, beautiful mountain. Very steep, too -- I can easily see floods happening up there.

Did you experience these rains? Have you been to Mount Rainier? Share your stories -- post them here.
