Late Green Book Gift Ideas

Or for New Year's Gifts or Just Get 'Em for Yourself: I've been meaning to post this list of green book gift ideas for a while -- better late than never! Here's a review of the handful of book reviews I've done on the blog this year, plus a look at things on my reading list. Enjoy.

1. 'Wings of Spring' by Tom Vezo and Chuck Hagner. This is a beautiful book with over 200 photos of birds migrating, choosing mates and nesting.

2. 'High-Tech Trash' by Elizabeth Grossman. She was a guest blogger earlier this year. I have not read her book yet, but it looks like a thorough account of what happens to all of our old TVs, computers and other electronic gadgets -- and what we can do about it.

3. 'Out of Eden' by Alan Burdick. Excellent look at invasive species around the world.

4. 'Mike McGrath's Book of Compost.' Everything you need to know about getting started in composting and improving your results.

5. 'The Small-Mart Revolution' by Michael Shuman. How small businesses can do more for local economies than huge corporations can.

6. 'Garbage Land' by Elizabeth Royte. Learn what happens to all of our garbage and recyled material and why in Berkeley, Calif., they won't recycle plastic.

On my shelf: Ones I hope to read in the coming weeks and review shortly thereafter. 'Wandering Home' by Bill McKibben; 'What to Eat' by Marion Nestle.

Happy holidays!
