2007 Could Be the Hottest Year on Record
British Meteorologists Predict 60 Percent Chance: Granted, that sounds like a typical weather forecast: "Mostly sunny, clouds late, 60 percent chance of breaking the temperature record." So there's a 40 percent chance that it won't. The news story says that both El Nino and climate change are going to make 2007 a warmer year.
The year is barely a week old and already we have temps in the 60s here in the greater Washington, D.C. area. My rose bush is sprouting new growth and flowers are popping up in the backyard. People in Minnesota are cancelling ice fishing tournaments, for crying out loud!
2006 was probably the third-warmest year on record. According to LiveScience.com, "six of the seven warmest years since 1880 have occurred since 2001, and the ten warmest years have occurred since 1995."
The climate is warming and we can enjoy some aspects of that -- golf in Chicago in January, anyone? -- but we better also start cutting greenhouse gas emissions and do what we can to reduce humanity's impact on climate change.

Last summer I was doing a job in Taipei and on one July day I noticed it was 95 degrees there, 100 in Beijing, 100 in Moscow, Washington London, Paris, LA and Chicago. All on the same day. Yet my idiot government refuses to disturb their businessmen paymasters.
If I declare Gravity an unproven theory, does that mean I can fly? -
How can you people be so ignorant?! Ya so you can go golf in the warm winter, woo hoo. But lets grow half a brain for a second here. If its warm in the winter, wuts it gonna be in the summer? Scorching hot is what its gonna be!
Yes there has been some warming in the past, but for different reasons. This time its because of excess CO2 in the ozone layer, when the o. layer is destroyed, the climate wont fix itself like it has in the past. The temperature will just keep climbing to unbearable degrees. But hey, atleast we can golf right? :(
And for those that think its Gods way of rewarding us, giving us some warmth instead of cold, its not gonna stay this way. As ive said, its gonna get hotter and hotter. So when its over 100 degrees in about a decade or so, lets stop and thank God, shall we? -
I totally agree with you. I live in new york too and I LOVED the weather. But if the warm weather stays we might have bees from now until next year!

If this is global warming I'm all for it. Live in NY and it was 60 today. Sorry 'bout that to the people that live in those coastal paradises. The climate cycles, the earth as a hole breathes. Man might have a small influence on it, but if the sun burps, it will make the cows farting look like a joke. Of course we should reduce the amount of non-renewable recources that we use, and try to use more alternative sources . Any body remember those tax credits of the early 80's? Hmm... Maybe we should worry about the things that are of our own making. You know... things like the loss of good payin jobs, the new world order, the loss in america's standing as the prime example for the world,,,hmm.... the outpacing of technological advances over that of mans ability to grow a consience. Oh yeah that comet that will someday end it all. If there is someone responsible for this warming thing, i must say thanks,, gonna go play golf tomorrow
